The live dvd is good, too bad M. Shadows cant scream like he used to when they were still a metalcore band due to throat infection.

I don't care what style of music they're playing. All I care about is how they play it. This DVD reveals some very sloppy guitar playing. If you didn't notice it, it's probably because they mask it with distortion. But there's only so much that can fix.

Now for something constructive.
"I know my opening statement may sounds weird. But for me they are one of best bands at this moment. It is my opinion so stop complaining please. This is also my first review and i'm not english so my vocabulary is limited.
I would also like some comments on how to improve (beside the first line, i already know what you guys think about it). "
The review isn't horrible, but you should still say instead "A7X are MY personal favorite band at the moment." If you make claims like that you really do have to qualify it as your opinion. Nobody can say that any band is better than any other band, it's all opinions, and when you express them like facts, you just end up sounding arrogant.
I still think they're horrible live, and I enjoy the studio stuff occasionally, so I'm not one of those random haters. They're just not as good live. The only way I'd excuse them is if I somehow found out they were all drunk during this concert. Then they'd be better than expectations when they did sober up. But for now, I believe they're sober and just sound like they're drunk.

Thank you for taking the time!
However, I clearly said ''in my opinion'', and I don't understand how it made me sound arrogant (if people started their review saying the same thing about Opeth, a lot less people would mind it).
I still think M.Shadows is one of the best live singers, but yeah sometimes the guitar is a bit sloppy and the tempo is not always steady.

because he sings rather than hitting stupid high harmonies all the time
|
| |
The lack of harmonies could be why, he doesn't go over D5 notes live either, probably why he doesn't sound 'whiny' in concerts.

But he is almost always prefectly on key and he sounds great which is so rare for a "metal" singer nowadays.

I know, this is why he is my favorite singer of all time. He knows what he's doing, and the way he works his voice is amazing. He's known for his gritty, raspy voice and technically precise singing after all. Being able to stay perfectly on pitch and maintain excellent power at both ends of his range, he doesn't force himself to sound like something else, and it sounds great the way it is. In my opinion the best frontman since Phil Anselmo, except he can actually sing live, unlike Phil.
|
| |
Maybe that's a bit too much praise, but he's a very good live singer from what I've heard.
|
| |
Eh, just my meaningless opinion. Who's your favorite singer, EvoHavok?
|
| |
Hmm, very good question actually. I don't think I have one, it really depends on the genre.

I see...
