"Your one makes me physically ill."
You five basically everything so I don't see why you're so upset.

british version of skins already used animal collective but i think it was a song from strawberry jam iirc
|
| |
How you could hate something as forward-thinking and emotive as this is far beyond my comprehension. Also, pretty sure we have around the same number of 5s, so that's kind of dumb to say.
|
| |
I never watched the British version but Strawberry Jam>MPP so if that's a sign of which version is better....
yay brit
|
| |
because io realize that a gimmick is neither forward-thinking or emotive it's contrived and posesses no real force to hold its pretense at all -- essentially it's choked by the very chains that bind it

i prefer mpp but
also i don't understand how this is forward thinking. it's just a bunch of random things mashed together and its like they were thinking oh shit this sounds like shit quickly lets get an amazing pianist to play over the top of it all so it sounds better.
and i dont find it emotive at all, just annoying as fuck
|
| |
this is like if sigh decided to be mildly symphonic to be honest.
|
| |
why do you have this as a 4 again?

Lol, oh my god, Austin... it's moments like these that make me question why I acknowledge your comments at all. I won't make the mistake of doing it again in this thread. You fail to perceive true art and throw around words like 'pretentious' and 'contrived' so often that it sheds light on how formulaic your criticisms really are.
|
| |
yes because what you perceive as art is usually just some people with a gimmick - unbeknownst to them and/or you or not.
|
| |
imma convince you
but to do what exactly
convince me to convince you to convince me to convince you to do something that i'll convince you to do only after having convinced me to convince you to convince me to convince you to do it.

you shall be a teacup
|
| |
Lol. Come on, Chan, you're sporting a 4 you should be on my side by default! Seriously though, I fail to see how any of this is gimmicky. People like to declare that art that pushes the boundaries is pretentious as hell and gimmicky. The pianist is brilliant, the vocals are haunting and it's structurally competent...

| |
Agree with Emeritus, album's good and all but nothing ground breaking or thought provoking
|
| |
I mean I like this a lot but tbh it is just contrived syncretism all over.
|
| |
Yeah man, this album is planned and forced. Oh, and it's pretentious... REALLY PRETENTIOUS. Have you heard "Prayer"? Idk wtf they were thinking when making that, but it sure is different, and don't be confused - that is a bad thing.
|
| |
I never said being different was a bad thing. A lot of the stuff I like completely tears through the fabric of conventions and it tears your idea of "different" up into shreds, fornicates on it and then feeds it to war criminals.
But, with that being said, being different isn't in and of itself a good thing. Originality (which this album lacks, seriously get off this tangent) does not equal quality whatsoever.

I was only joking around =[
