Also, if you have seen them perform live, are they great, good, fair or poor...??? Hit or miss. One main issue I have with their live set is the two times I've seen them they've only used one guitar. Definitely lacks the punch in some songs live. I've heard people complain about their show a few years ago. Personally I have yet to be totally disappointed and it seems their live show these days is constantly improving. I would honestly compare these guys to Senses Fail, Scary Kids, Anberlin, and newer Saosin. Before controversy starts I'll add Anberlin > Emery.

I think TREOS has a lot of similarities to Emery...especially with all their vocal work...I really don't see the comparison to Thursday at all tbh...but yes...
Anberlin > Emery

Older FFTL is pretty good...new FFTL is absolutely awful though...TREOS's Between The Heart And The Synapse is excellent IMO, as is He Is Legend's I Am Hollywood...Captain North asked for similar bands in post-hardcore to Emery so I simply listed the ones that I felt were related to Emery that I felt were decent bands...don't be hatin'
Not every band can be Kraftwerk you know
Sadly they can't.
I would say that Thursday, Refused and Glassjaw are the bands closest sounding to this which are actually decent.

I dunno...to me Thursday and Glassjaw fall into a completely different section of post-hardcore...and Refused (while awesome) just...I can hear their influence a bit but I don't really think they sound all that close to each other...

Well to me Emery make bad music so obviously the other bands that sound like them are bad to me too. Those three are the closest to Emery without me feeling guilty for recommending them. This Message Edited On 10.28.08

Really awesome review, especially since the personal aspect adds to it perfectly and gives it an emotional or "human" element.

Yeah I tried my best to keep the personal things in it from making the review sound "fanboyish" or whatever so I hope it wasn't to overbearing haha...

Well if you mean their most recent two releases...I'm Only a Man was pretty bad and...meh...but their new EP is very very good and contains a couple of their best songs yet IMO...so yeah I guess what I'm trying to say is...get the EP...

Anberlin is garbage, this album isn't that great either, but when the screamer starts up i really like it. I'm gonna see if this grows on me but usually catchy singing has the opposite effect.
