hey, I'm that second person!
I would say the first atreyu album is as good as anything this band did

I'd say that's a fairly accurate statement, although I would rather listen to these guys than Atreyu any day, but I dislike them both a lot. Colors just isn't my kind of album, hated it every time I listened to it.

Crysis is too black metal for BTBAM lawl.
Traced in Air is still #1 as an actual album.

Good review. What album should I start with if I'm looking to get into these guys?

To get into them, probably Alaska. I prefer The Silent Circus but it's a bit heavier, and everyone else prefers Colors, but yea Alaska is pretty accessible.

I have to mention, the Packaging of this album is PERFECT. The case and everything. the aesthetics of the packaging is amazing. even the spindle you put your cd on has this sorta crazy futuristic look.
The only beef with the packaging is that I have to open it EXTREMELY slowly or else it jams.
I want altmer to troll in this. cuz it's healthy.
Oh and of course, everything's top notch.
these guys don't do enough crazy jamming. it just sounds like a more raw version of the actual album. which is practically a good thing. Tommy(that's his name right?)'s a better singer (as in clean vocals) live. This Message Edited On 10.21.08

well, i was fucking pissed when i got my pre order, the disc would not come out the dam thingy so it like literally broke within 5 minutes i got my hands on it
|
| |
okay you're right. it's really cheap shitty plastic. but it's stunningly beautiful.
|
| |
I saw the trailer for this and was like "you guys are doing it okay but Tommy shut up for the love of God"
His cleans were ok but goddamn his harsh vocals are bad.
The CD sounds more or less exactly like the studio album...
I guess, more than anything else, that's a compliment to the producer of colors, that he managed to capture their live sound so well!
i'm not a huge fanboy, but i do like this band a lot, so i daresay i'll probably get this at SOME point. i don't generally buy live dvds by bands, even ones i'm fanatical about, but i'd be intrigued to see how they pull of the mad shit they play...

Watching the main riff of Backwards Marathon makes me lol because Paul's left hand is just flying the entire time. And he makes it look so easy
|

I swear to god they tried to write their own Spheres Of Madness with that song

Album Rating: 4.5 | Sound Off
meh, Spheres is a tad bit overrated. awesome yea, but ppretty damn repetitive
