I accidentally had it on shuffle so they didn't play in order
Used to think this was no big deal but track arrangement (hence the album's overall flow) can make or break the album.

I think I may have found my new favorite doom band through last.fm this weekend though. I've ordered the albums and I'll tell you about them if they turn out to be awesome.
ok cool, I look forward to it.

Yeah, definitely, especially with albums that rely on atmosphere. Track order on this album isn't that much of a biggie though, there aren't any connecting bits or anything.
ONLY a 3.5?????
Well seeing as I gave it a 4.5 and wrote a ridiculously praiseful review of it, yes, ONLY a 3.5.

Album is cruuuuuuuuuusssssshhhhiiiiing.
March October does drag in the beginning, but it picks up around 4:20 (haha) and is solid thereafter. So yeah, all they had to do really was cut the 4 minute "intro" down to about 1:30-2 minutes. It really doesn't get in the/my way too much.
Vocals are fantastic (the spoken word is the best I've heard in doom after Mourning Beloveth's Sullen Sulcus). Loving this. Will probably be a 4.5, need a couple more listens.

Yeah, that's pretty much my only beef with the album, it's perfect otherwise.

I don't think March October is a problem anymore now that I have the booklet, the lyrics are really cool in my opinion
btw what's the next album to check out after this, or are they all generally solid? This Message Edited On 10.22.08

The only other album I've heard in full is their debut Stormcrowfleet, and it's good but quite hard to get in to. The production is very murky, sort of like Thergothon; typical funeral doom of the time. However, I think it's generally accepted that all their albums are good. I think someone reviewed another one on here, check that out maybe. This Message Edited On 10.24.08

Only listened to The Arrival so far and I'm liking the epicness/somberness quite a bit...this seems to be much more well produced than most doom albums which doesn't hurt either...

You need to listen to the whole thing man, the better songs are towards the end.
