buddy is a good vocalist in his own right, i mean he can do vocals with a clean voice and a steady scale. some people would say that cladio sanchez is a bad vocalist but anyone that likes coheed would beg to differ. though you may not rate buddy up with some of the best of all time, hes not as bad as the jonas brothers.
other wise i loved this album and it will be eternal.

Being a good vocalist is more than being able to do a scale. I mean you could teach a parrot to whistle a scale that doesn't make the parrot a musician.
Same thing goes for Buddy in that he doesn't have any depth in his singing and doesn't have any ability to progess ( it seems ).
And also ( I don't know about anyone else ) but, to me, his lyrics are just pathetic for the most part and corny for the rest.
Anyways back to the point, music is about progression and finding the sound that lets you create something powerful/inspirational/beautiful ( take your pick ), so a musician without progression isn't really a musician which is why I loathe Buddy so dearly =)
But everyone to their own I say, so if you find his style ( I guess you'd call it ) appealing then I'm not one to judge.
And lol at the Jonas Brothers, why somebody would do that to themselves I don't know =o

It's too bad nothing else on the album is as good as Family Tradition because it's actually a great song, imo

Do these guys ever cuss in their songs?

Following a similar formula to its superb predecessor, ‘Life Is Not A Waiting Room’ sees Senses Fail accentuate catchy melodies in amongst energetically heavy post-hardcore. While it may be another consistent LP, it is less immediate & ultimately less memorable than ‘Still Searching’, even if the band continues to tighten their musicianship. ‘Garden State’ is the catchiest song here & it is a mystery as to why the excellent title track was only included as a bonus. Recommended Tracks: Garden State, Lungs Like Gallows, Family Tradition & Chandelier.

This album has gotten me through so many tough times.
Buddy can't sing live, but his doctored vocals fit the arrangements so well.

@Cormano
Nope .
RE: Singing - Not since the early days of the Still Searching tours has he been able to come anywhere near the vicinity of any of his album vocals. Whenever he needs to go up into the higher register he cuts the notes short and shunts them into something akin to a seal barking. Please give anything later than 2008 that isn't the retouched live DVD and tell me what you think.
RE: Screams - Probably the bet live screamer I've heard, although I get the feeling that his vocals were destroyed as part of his commitment to getting the screams so damn good live. If this is the case I really wish he'd have trained the bass player or someone else to do the screams and kept his vocal chords intact.
I think that Garrett and Heath's leaving the band in 2009 is a direct result of Buddy's deteriorating ability to perform live. Since Buddy owns most of the writing credits, those guys really only made money from touring, and they now can barely fill a 1000 person venue because the live shows are pitiful. Heath literally quit to become an electrician. A fucking electrician.
I still love SF, but I love their albums; not their live shows.

Still Searching was pretty good, but this and The Fire were really boring and uninspired.

I probably have as much affection for this album as I do because it was the first SF album I heard.
The last three albums have all been extremely similar in tone and lyrical content, but when I'm having a shitty day I can listen to any of them and feel better. The formula is old, but it's a formula that still works for me so I cut them some slack.
The issue with live shows is just so damned disappointing; these guys capture more of my listening hours than just about anyone else, and I have absolutely no desire to go see them.
