Not a fan of all their bands myself but they are much better singers than the Anberlin guy.

but, as stated its a mtter of opinion. I know for a fact that Christian has a better voice than cornell, but before you rip me again, please give (*Fin) a listen, it changed my outlook on the band. just seriously give it a shot
I listened to it when it came out. Not impressed. I don't like any band Chris Cornell has ever sung in but he is an excellent vocalist.

Chris Cornell's vocal range is awe inspiring.

Anberlin are really not that bad of a band by any means and Stephen seems a really nice guy even if christianity is not for me but there are hundreds and hundreds of better bands to be spending your time listening to.

disagree and i can't believe you said John Mayer and Chris Cornell are better vocalists. Chris Cornell actually has a week vocal range in comparison. Sure there are hundreds of better bands, but in the pop-punk genre, few can come close to Anberlin
*Edit: Thom Yorke, Jeff Buckley, Bjork, and Mike Patton i can definitely agree withThis Message Edited On 09.29.08

Assuming you actually know who they are or have googled them there's no way you can dispute
Jenny Lewis
Jón Þór Birgisson
Beth Gibbons
either.

i'm not going to google them. honestly all i know of those 3 are Beth and Jón Þór Birgisson, who, while you might not be able to duplicate his vocals, that doesn't make them outright good or great. of course, for Sigur Ros, they are perfect. no one could replace him there, but that's not really the point

Well to say you the time Jenny Lewis sings in the band Rilo Kiley as well as solo stuff.
Her singing skills are demonstrated here.

From what I've seen of his butchering of Creep Stephen has virtually no high end at all and only seems capable in that middle high pop punk range.

Then you haven't listened to half of their songs huh? He is capable of going falsetto (see *fin, not to mention a plethora of others)
Shouldn't this be taken to a forum somewhere? This Message Edited On 09.29.08

This is always a terrible argument used by people who have run out of better things to say. I have listened to every album they have ever made in order of their release. None of them are terrible, none of them are great, Never Take Friendship Personally is probably the best. They are a mediocre band with a mediocre singer who looks good when reflected with the terrible singers he associates with.

Me too and she's much better now than she ever has been vocally. She suits pop far better than the moodier indie stuff.

I don't see how its a terrible argument seeing as how I stated my opinion on the matter and then provided a reference to back it up...when it comes down to it whether you think its good or not comes down to opinion...I think NTFP is probably their worst release tbh, but its an opinion, same as everything you're saying...stop trying to classify everybody else's opinions as stupid and yours as facts...

it just doesn't matter guys. some people like this and some don't. That's just how it is. This Message Edited On 09.29.08

I have barely argued opinions. Almost all of the complaints about the review were matters of fact, such as this being a most anticipated album, groundbreaking or brilliant instrumentally, him being one of the greatest singers ever etc..
All of that is objectively quantifiable stuff.
Arguing I've never listened to music when only I know that is a terrible argument and I've no idea how you think you can reference that. He cannot sing high notes or certainly not in Thom Yorke's registry and his cover of Creep is evidence of that. He most likely has a 2 octave vocal range and can maybe belt out a little higher. Nothing special at all.

Well maybe I can reference it because he does sing in falsetto in said song...I don't see why you're comparing him to Thom Yorke they don't play the same musical style...Thom York only has a 2 octave range if that as well its just a higher octave...the notes aren't the only factor in being a great singer...I mean Mariah Carey has like a 4 octave range but she is terrible singer tbh...I only guessed that you hadn't heard those songs because well...if you had you would notice he actually hits high notes? eh...
