I just started this, and holy shit "The Resistance" is so good. Quite possibly one of my top songs for 2008

That whole 'new users aren't accepted unless they agree' thing is pretty damn true you know, I'm getting less shit now and there are a fair few users who are nice and respect my opinions, but there are others who think unless I like the 'critically acclaimed' and hate the 'generic' I'm an idiot.

As for this album, it's great - they've matured massively since Cities, just look at the lyrics...well, most of them. He's voice is a lot stronger and less teenagery and the guitars are pulling off some really cool riffs.

this really drags in the middle tbh. When it gets to Breathe, I get annoyed.

But Breathe and Burn Out Brighter are two of the best tracks! Retrace and Blame Me! Blame Me!...THEY bore me. Same with the Younglife/Haight St. combo.

Well, I agree there...they are at their very very best when they're playing the fast paced tracks.

In the sincerest way i can express this i think you should be proud of yourself. if we are constantly aware to be as honest and divergent from group think as possible, sputnik will continue to be the most fresh resource for music criticism.
this is why their decentralized format (in comparison to others- ie pitchfork, allmusic, etc) will continue to expand with new and interesting ideas

I dunno, they pull of the stripped down acoustic stuff unbelievably well...

I can't wait til tonight comes so I can actually get out and pick this up. I loved it on their myspace. I predict a 4 rating.

Yesss, I was trying to decide whether or not to go to Soundwave and I made the decision to go if I liked Anberlin (who were going to be there) and I fucking love them.

This album is paced really well, especially the first 5 songs (which all rule), and just generally kicks ass, ugh.

Was going to give this a 4 so as not to seem overzealous, but I like it too much at the moment.

Glad to see this band finally catching on at Sputnik. I've always loved them, and they always seemed criminally overlooked and glazed over as "scene pop punk" at this site. Again, I'm glad to see them being taken seriously, and I'd love to see this make the top 50 at the end of the year.
As for the users on this site not thinking for themselves, I take personal offense to that, lol. Due to the "hyped" albums on this site, I have found by far some of the best music I have ever come across. But that's not to say I always agree. I think "Second Stage Turbine Blade" and "The Crane Wife" are ridiculously overrated, and I bought them with the anticipation of them being wonderful, as Sputnik told me they were. To each his own I guess...

Lol that's what I'm saying. It makes you feel all elite and stuff when you disagree with the elites as opposed to when you have to say "Ugh... they were right... As the Roots Undo is indeed awesome". At least that's what I think. lol
there's an x-factor in their music that elevates them above all of the other bands in mainstream rock.
This is the problem. I'm not hearing this.
