disappointing, but them too. This Message Edited On 12.15.08

I'd like to add early In Flames, this album and Crimson, assuming it counts.
I think Darkest Hour deserve some sort of hardcore tag instead of "death"-whatever.

I'm just talking about bands that are still around/still release new GOOD material. I could add like 5-10 other bands at least.

Well for the 'mediocre' rating, i am kind of averaging how it used to be and how it is now.
the scene now is terrible, but there were some pretty awesome bands back when.

its still good, there are still a lot of unnoticed good bands out there who are over shadowed by the countless number bad In Flames clones.

in flames have become one of those bands lol

^I'm sorry, but that was just a really really dumb comment. How can a band that changes its sound every album become its own clone? They are more mainstream than ever, yes, but they sound nothing like all the bands that originally tried to copy them. Those bands are stuck playing Colony for the rest of their careers.

they sound like As I Lay Dying started an In Flames tribute band who sucked and decided to write an album, so no my statement isnt too far off

new and old AILD don't sound like watered down Melo-death. AILD is brocore.
but you're right this album isn't good.

btw figure number 5 is like soilwork's worst album.

tbh i'm not entirely sure what brocore is
but yeah I can understand people not liking soilwork, but I find them really fun to listen too, plus they were one of the first melodeath bands i got into. Predator's Portrait and Chainheart Machine are their best by a long shot, then tbh I think i'd put Stabbing the Drama third, barely ahead of Natural Born chaos. then their newest, then their debut, then FN5.
to stay on the topic of this review this album is brilliant.

Brocore is a stupid term for metalcore that's "manly". or something like that.
and yeah this album rocks. easily in my top 5 fav. albums of this year. This Message Edited On 12.16.08

Predators Portrait is shit. The vocal performance was shocking and alot of the songs blend together even more so than on later releases. I haven't heard Chainheart Machine though. My ordering would prolly be: FN5, Stabbing, STAGD, NBC
Best part about this album is still vocals and lyrics.
Oh, and I think brocore is more hardcore for fratboys.
