It's not really that there is too much hate, and if there is any overly negative, "this band sux" comments with no reasoning, you should probably take it with a grain of salt. Thor rated this a 2, but he didn't bash it necessarily (if you look a few comments up he is pretty logical and does give the band credit).

sounds to me like the one of the only people here who actually makes sense is MTTS.

After the Burial is truly a talented set of kids that throw breakdowns in their songs to make a more intense live show. Obviously these guys could write songs without breakdowns, unlike suffokate, and far worse bands, but they're easy to groove to (especially after you listened to it enough times to have it memorized). ha. They're having fun making music and playing it for the fans... if you don't like it, that's fine, but EASILY one of the top albums of the year. This Message Edited On 08.06.08

I agree these guys are like Veil of Maya in that they over-do the breakdowns. Both of their albums have 3 breakdowns on the first track, and do use them in excess throughout. They're still young, and once the deathcore phase dies out these guys hopefully will have matured enough by then to produce Arsis-esque albums (no breakdowns, great riffage, etc.)
agree 100 percent. they wont ever completely ditch breakdowns as they do make for a fun live show, but i predict a much more riffy album in their future

I have no problem with a good breakdown that actually adds a lot of intensity to a song, but the ones here are so goddamn overdone and trite. There's no feeling behind them at all.

Man, this band has some insane riff work, which consistently runs to the end of each song. This is the first album i've heard from After The Burial, i am very excited to hear more.

Most of the breakdowns on this cd are so similar to meshuggah breakdowns, minus alot of the intensity meshuggah brings. on a side note, the vocals disappoint me as they are good live, but so shitty on record

I'm pretty shocked/offended that this is one of the top ranked albums of the year on this site.

they totally deserve it.

breakdowns aside, the instrumentation on this CD is great, and the guitarists are extremely talented. lots of the riffs they play are unorthodox.

i saw them live on saturday, and it was one of the tightest live shows ive ever seen. the 8 strings just crush your face in.This Message Edited On 08.14.08

Band tries way too hard to be Bury Your Dead, just with more sweep-picking.

I know, that's why it really pisses me off that they do so many goddamn breakdowns that go absolutely nowhere.
