Yeah Ecnal this and ABL are absolute leagues ahead of their later two, it's like two different bands almost. I highly recomment you give em another shot.

I don't really understand why this album gets lots of hate too. Granted this one is very personal for me, it's still musically pretty awesome. Especially Fallen.

It has a couple of meh songs for sure and I don't like it as much as this but on the whole it was a pretty successful stylistic shift from this imo.

Well ABL is simple post hardcore stuff. Though The Fantasy is amazing I can see people not liking it. This is way more complex.

I so wanted ABL to just fucking unleash, but it never did. It felt like it got close a few times, but they always dropped back down when they could have added some heavy stuff in there.

Yeah that's a valid criticism, they wouldn't have wanted to make it too uncommercial. But to hear them go really heavy would definitely be interesting.

Yep Maynard did background vocals. Gave me a deftones vibe most of the time and a Tool vibe occasionally

I don't know... I just couldn't shake it, lol. It might have been the way he was singing. He was straining his voice like whats-his-nuts does when he hits notes that are too high for his range. He definitely sounds better vocally on ABL than here from what I have heard, though.

The music is better here, but the vocals are better on the 2nd one. If we could just combine them together with some more harsh vocals... I think I would be on board.
