imo... the overzealous synth and repetitive nature of the album turned me off. while it had its' catchy moments w/ Kids and Electric Feel, it felt like a bad 80's ripoff and got a little annoying more than once. that being said, the "horrible" comment was hyperbole, but i didn't like it.

MGMT is, good or bad, one of the few innovative leaders in American music at the moment. Oracular Spectacular seems to be an album in which they held back their full creative potential enough to secure mainstream success and the opportunity to have their creative input leak it's way into mainstream.
The only material I have heard from their lastest, Time to Pretend, is "Metanoia." After hearing it I am convinced that MGMT is a band that will continue to explore uncharted waters in mainstream music and quite possibly have a long lasting impact on it; I believe we may have a modern day Pink Floyd in the makings.This Message Edited On 03.18.09
