@fox don’t get me wrong, I can’t jam the genre indiscriminately, there are few bands I straight-up love in the scene. But when it hits, IT HITS. Reel Big Fish was really good on Turn the Radio Off and Why Do They Rock So Hard? but is mostly trash outside of that

"still feel like easily my favorite less than jake song is the opener to the album with the dynamite on it"

this is my #1 ska album, absolute classic

Honestly I think a dece chunk of this album is better than the opener of Anthem. Not a slight at that track, this album just rules way too hard

the key change in "welcome to the new south" is sort of wack but the "And to be on the edge of your bed
with your head burried
in your hands" chord progression is crazy energizing to me. somehow other less than jake can't touch. but that's just me

Anthem is pretty underrated! Was one of the Less Than Jake albums I acquired as a teenager so it's probably more nostalgic for me. But this has grown to be my favorite

Funny to see all the activity in this thread today - I just so happened to wake up this morning with "All My Best Friends Are Metalheads" stuck in my head. I've had a soft spot for it since I was a kid, thanks to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4.
I have an old CD copy in my room, but I've never listened to it; "Metalheads" remains the only song I've heard from this album. Maybe I should change that...
[on the topic of Anthem: I've also heard "That's Why They Call It a Union" through Tony Hawk's Underground 2, and that's another goodie]

THPS4 was my favorite video game growing up yet I never heard that song on there. I wonder if it wasn't on the PS1 version?

@symbolic Simple is the main one. Probably the worst lyrics I've seen in 2020 so far lol. Musically it's ok, but yeah the lyrics make it cheesy to the point I can barely listen

Damn! I actually love that song, and it's due to the lyrics. Especially with all the craziness and uncertainty going on in the world rn.
