Ramones got punk going.

Yeah, with some help though. Bands like the MC5, The Stooges and New York Dolls are mainly some of the first to be considered punk bands along with The Ramones. And yes, the Sex Pistols did get punk in the UK going, but it wasn't just them. The Damned and others also helped. The Pistols just caused the most chaos, and attention. This Message Edited On 07.29.06

Ramones formed in '74, and released their first album in '76. The pistols formed in '76 and released this in '77. The clashes dates are very similar to this I think.

MusicOfficial101, If you have heard of this band with them only releasing one album then they obviously had a larger influence thatn you give them credit for. And I Have always thought that the Sex Pistols And the Clash Are greater than the ramones could ever be.

Where would the world be without the sex pistols?

Literate?

And Fade.To.Black., I'm not arguing the Sex Pistol's supposed "influence", I'm just saying they're not that good.

Also, how the hell do they get invited to the R&R hall of fame with one album? And what's worse, how do they REFUSE to be accepted?

What I really want to know is how you guys find out things like the fact that Sid couldn't play bass and that the band its self was nothing more than a fabricated boy band. Wow, im pretty sure its ok to use the term sell-out now.

They got into the Hall of Fame because of influence not matter how much you want to deny it they had massive influence on punk at the time.

They are not sell out's look up the definition.

This album is a mockery. With the exception of a few songs, it's basically everything that punk rock shouldn't be.

As far as I know Sid, the bassist, was the only one classifiable as "just an act", he could hardly play, but was known more for his antics. The others played their own stuff.

This album seems like the stuff you either love or hate, but so far it's pretty much in the middle for me.

Sid was a fan before he joined the band. I'm pretty sure he was hired because he was a friend of Rottens and he "looked" the part
