This album is great bring em back alive is perfect. What does every1 expect? The band has a different sound. If you listened to a band with jimi hendrix and the eagles it would sound completely different and you probably wouldn't like it. and look at each persons idividaul talent that they put into the album. Tim is absurd i put him with flea as number 1 and 2. Tom morello is the most intresting guitarist i've ever com across he is so inventive that he's almost impossible to copy. Brad lays down great beats that are at a time simple but adds the perfect sound to the band and Chris. He's the greatest singer of all time his voice is so unique and powerful that it can't be described.

I swear, I must be the only person on the planet who prefers Out Of Exile.
Still, this a really good album.
And Fenderstrat, Tom Morello is great, but Joe Satriani gets my vote as most interesting guitarist ever.
Chris Cornell and Dio should have a Battle of The Powerful Voices.

This is the only Audioslave record I own, and I have an undying passion for it. I think it mostly comes from Tom Morello's guitar though. Cochise, Gasoline, I am the highway and Like a stone are my favourites.

coming in from both soundgarden and ratm perspectives, i like the album. ill admit it had its bad points (pretty much every song after 'I am the highway' dont have the same feel as the first half of the CD) but all in all its a decent album. IMO 'Out Of Exile' was a huge let down after hearing songs like Cochise and Shadow on the Sun off the first album.

The lyrics on Like A Stone are about a man sitting in a room of a death and he sees everyone fying and he is just waiting to dye like everyone else...I heard that myself from an interview with Tim

Look HugheZe, you are so full of shit, and musically blind to new inventions and RE-creations!!! Note RE-creations. Its beautiful artwork.
Dude, accept it, they rock. And leave Soundgarden alone- they have more of a definitive style them when I screwed your mom with tons of bondage!

I'll preface this by saying I'm a Soundgarden fan and there's some things about Tom Morello that really annoy me. So, take it with a grain of salt.
My main problem with this album is that alot of the tracks sound like Rage tracks that were sitting around waiting for vocals. Zach quits, and they don't get used. But here comes Cornell, and it's time to use them. You know which songs these are, the more generic ones, like Show Me How to Live.
I like I Am the Highway and Getaway Car alot, but at the same time, these kinda sound like Cornell solo tracks... especially Getaway Car.
So, you get very little combination of the two styles. Shadow on the Sun, maybe? I'm finally getting around to getting the second album now because I was somewhat put off by the first one, hopefully there's more progression towards getting their own sound.
I also don't understand why Cornell doesn't play. That would go a long way to defining them more. The songs do sound thin at times, and chorus effects aren't going to make up for the void.

A band that will never get the respect they deserve, this album is a 3.5/5 for me.
Also, no one cares if you like Soundgarden or RATM, that was then, this in now, get over it.This Message Edited On 06.26.06

hey rocksta! ever heard of rage against the machine? yeah this is rage playing in a new groove, and with a dif. vocalist. Thats where some of the hype comes from

 My guess is stay banned for another week or two and then come spew forth some generic bile about Cream and Led Zeppelin.
/Audioslave is okay on-topic.

It's a good album overall, nothing really spectacular

This band is the perfect example of something not being the sum of it's parts. It's okay to compare Rage an Audioslave, because the band are playing only a slight variation of what they did with Rage, had they got out violins then they would be incomparable. Personally, I don't like Cornell's voice and was very disappointed with this album

I don't like the guitar solos. When Tom was wiht RATM the solos were bizarre, but they made sense and sounded cool. Now His solos are just weird, over distorted and don't sound good.

Audoslave are so painfully dull and generic it's hard to listen to them. Almost all of these songs consist of some hard hitting guitar riff followed by a chilled out chorus rinse and repeat. Although there are some decent guitar riffs the music remains bland and uninteresting, it's not even catchy.

Symphonic Audioslave? That might be cool... I really enjoyed the album, but i got this CD before I ever really payed attention to Rage or Soundgarden. I like them all, but it's nice to have a little bit of a difference.
