They're still using the 8-bit synthesizer sound on that album, though. Which i hate. It just comes across as gimmicky to me.

Yeah, i could not listen to a whole album of that. Remove the 8-bit synths and it's just generic metalcore, remove the metalcore and it's just the sound of an NES being smashed on a table repeatedly. Same shit with Sky Eats Airplane; neither band has been able to successfully merge that general sound with hardcore/metalcore as well as Genghis Tron did with this album.

HORSE progressed ten fold with desperate living.
Well that's certainly not saying much considering that their previous stuff is pretty much unlistenable.
I don't deny that their songwriting DID improve with that album, based on what i've heard. Yeah, they were, basically, writing actual songs. I just can't fucking stand the whole "nintendocore genre", though, that's the thing. (i put it in quotes because i have trouble considering it a legitimate genre.)
