His compositions became increasingly more complex and influenced by tons of world music after this, like Africa/Brass or Olé Coltrane. This was the last time he did a "conventional" hard bop album
His post-giant steps pre-free jazz stuff, barring a few exceptions like Ballads or his album Monk, are not as difficult as his free jazz stuff but they're definitely not straight forward
Probably should've just said "his evolution after this" instead of bringing up the free jazz
