Thx, can recommend me some tracks by These guys? I've already heard the t/t to this album and it rules hard

They have one more song that can compete with TDWOT in length and epicness - The Odyssey, that is. I prefer TDWOT, but they are both great. When it comes to this album, The Accolade is my favorite, it's more of a progressive rock song. Most of the other stuff on here is more akin to neoclassical speed metal or something like that. Try Of Sins and Shadows, the opening track. That's a fun song that summarizes a lot of the strengths of their fast and short songs.

Right now I'm really enjoying Michael Romeo's guitar playing. Great riffs and great solos

Well, considering your username i'd also give The Odyssey a shot, it's their first album that is headed in a more thrashy direction.

Mythology Suite is softer compared to this, but it's their most versatile album - still, they managed to make it feel homogenic and coherent. In my opitnion, it's their masterpiece, but if you're looking for the riffs, you might like The Odyssey more.

Like you said, the duels between Romeo and Pinnella are one of the best things about Symphony X. They were at their peak during the time of TDWOT and Twilight in Olympus imo. Sadly, Pinnella continued to get less and less spotlight with every album since Mythology Suite. I guess that's one of the reasons why I still can't quite favor the direction they headed during the last decade.

Last one was pretty good, but doesn't come close to their best.

I thought Underworld was great but this one and The Odyssey are still my favorite from them. This band never made a truly bad album (even the s/t was passable).

Actually, I agree that they never made a truly bad album. But man, Iconoclast was bland af.

I'll have to check the odyssey then since you said it brings the riffs

It sure does. View it as a 2 part album: the first part is a collection of hard-hitting metal songs, save for two softer songs, and the second part is the 24 minute title epic. I don't like it as much as TDWOT, but it's a great listen nontheless. It's also got Accolade II, so I guess it's a logical step after TDWOT. Have fun with it. m/

It also has Awakenings, such an underrated track / ballad.

Yes, Awakenings is great. It's got Pinnella's best moments imo.
