Everybody cums all over Stigmata for a reason though. The instrumentation on that album is near perfect. It's not one to like immediately, (mostly due to Liiva's vocals) it's more of an album that you appreciate more and more with every listen.
Black Earth would be a great choice also, it's basically a shortened version of Stigmata, easier to listen to.
Burning Bridges is th worst of the three, Liiva vocals are worse here than the other two albums (where they weren't really that great either) The solos here are possibly their best however, and this album had my personal favorite AE song of all time, "The Immortal." Overall a great album, but not quite as good as their other two Liiva albums.

nice review.
slowly getting into it. i thought it would be more melodic like opeth but it seems it's more towards the trash side. i'll see if i'll still be listening to this in about a month's time. This Message Edited On 10.01.07

"I disagree. Listen to the riffs off of this album and then listen to the last three albums. While the feel still is the same, I'll give you that, the riffs themselves aren't the standard C riffs that flood most modern melodic death metal today. They have a more original edge to them, which for me puts this album above most of their other ones."
To each his own Shattered_Future. This album is growing on me, but its still nothing original. They do, however, stand out by themselves with their sound and all.

Wouldn't that make it original?

I guess your right Thor (fucked up the wording on that a bit). They do have their own sound, but its nothing spectacular and they do recycle alot of their old riffs. Is that any better hahahah!

ZooYorker6, by looking at my album ratings you'd figure out I at least have opinions on almost all AE albums...
Eh, I'm late and this discussion is pointless.

Another great review...however I think ive decided after listening to all the albums with Angela that AE doesn't do it for me. They have their moments but i think that many other bands are making higher quality music.

So I just listened to Blood On Your Hands and it's AWESOME.
Really want to hear this record now.

Yes, I know. I'll have to leave my explanation to my good friends Charles and George Merriam and Noah Webster: joke ˈjōk n: something not to be taken seriously : a trifling matter —often used in negative constructions. I was also implying that the only way this could be anyone's favorite AE album would be if it was, in fact, the only AE album they've heard (because most of the others are better than this). But you probably didn't catch that either.
Same here, I really need to buy an AE album without Angela.
The Liiva-era albums are overrated, if you ask me. I actually don't like him or his voice and I'm glad he is no longer with him. The whole reason he's gone is because he couldn't cut it anyway.

I have never really listened to arch enemy before, not that I didn't want to I have just been listening to other things but this album really amazed me. I love every song on the album and how powerful her voice is, the riffs, solos, just everything about it. I don't thing that it will be leaving my MP3 player for some time.

in my opinion this C.D. was junk compaired to Doomsday Machine.
The guitars were nowhere as good as they could have been and all the chorus' sounded the same.

ZooYorker6, I considered it being a joke as an unlikely option because I just didn't find it remotely funny. I take that the same way I take compliments on my instrumental skills; "No. Please stop trying to get me to lower my standards."

It's cool. I consider this a dead issue. We're going on three weeks here.
