Yes, agree; amazing tune. I guess Robert thought it was too depressing for this particular album, but I love it.

its pretty damn sad so he has a point but goddamn it smokes every other cure song after bloodflowers as well as most of bloodflowers
wish we could see what robinsons tracklist looked like that was apparently the 8 darkest songs which robert vetoed so the album wouldnt be too dark for listeners but like its a cure album lol they shoulda gone for it

You’re spot on. I read that in “Uncut” magazine. Like you, I wish they had chosen those gloomy tracks for the album.
Best track since Boy I Never Knew has got to be It Can Never Be The Same

yea that songs great. im hopin that new album a. ever comes out and b. is as good as robert has been describing bc from how it sounds its gonna be dark as fuck and all the songs are gonna be long as hell which for this band is typically a good thing lol so i have a feeling itll rule

Idk, I tried this out a few weeks ago like I do every couple years. Still doesn't engage me. The lyrics and darkness is there, but the music doesn't grab me at all. Bloodflowers was the last Cure record I enjoyed.

Rancid album, only gets worse with age.

The End of The World is the first song i ever liked. I traded a kid some Darth Vader gloves for a music video player that had that and toxic by Brittney Spears on it when i was like… 9, and i fucking loved the Cure song and watched the video nonstop ever day.
Rest of the album is great too, Lost is a wonderful opener. Kinda underrated tbh

I must be going soft. "Anniversary", "Taking Off", "The Promise", and "Going Nowhere" (if it counts) are good.
Agreed about the yelling though.

Probably my favorite track off the "standard" album. Great closer. Those bonus tracks are pretty good, though.

Alright, this is better than I remembered (big bump), it is "weak" only by the band's standards. I always loved the opening duo, especially Labyrinth with its arabic-goth undertones, but midway it felt meh. Well, not anymore, these are just great tracks all along, and The Promise is a mighty closer. Have to admit I haven't heard Going Nowhere before, it was not on my CD release. What a beauty!

My only issue with the album is it's all over the place. It bounces from dark and brooding to light and whimsical seemingly at random. I'm used to it but it's not really a smooth ride

@gabba yeah, I was surprised at how decent Going Nowhere was. Really should've been on the album proper.
