Andrew, the person who reviewed this album, obviously didn't really listen to it. First of all, misquoting song lyrics is a big red flag. Also, I can't even begin to express how absolutely sick to death I am of the constant exaggerations and generalizations about Korn's music--particularly Jonathan Davis' lyrics. All I ever hear from the naysayers is "oh he whines about his childhood/teen years." Let's see, I can count on literally one hand the songs which lyrically stem from his childhood or younger years (and even they are about very different things). The constant teen-angst pigeonhole is not only false, but it's tired. PAAAAIN
I'M COMING UNDONE

That's not what he says, but ok. And yes I'm dead serious. You imbeciles can't prove me wrong. So let's hear some REAL reasons. No lies, none of the repetative bullshit everone says to slither their way out of it. Let's see if you can actually give me a real, truthful reason.

I already know what you're going to say though so it makes no difference, really. There are about 9 or 10 things the naysayers constantly say. I mean you people are literally like walking cliche's. You're going to generalize the lyrics based upon two or three songs (or even just one for that matter), you're going to focus on one specific period of time and blow it way out of proportion, you're going to just blatantly lie and talk about how their music sounds the same, even though every single album sounds different from the last, etc. You're only making fools of yourselves.

they suck because they lack the shredz
| | | They are a very boring band. They FAIL TO KEEP MY INTEREST. Also the fanboys *cough* you *cough* are just as bad, if not worse, than the average fanboy. Do you realize how stupid you're being? You're actually challenging people to tell you why they hate your band so much. Many, quickly realizing you're an idiot, will ignore you completely, just like we try to do with Korn in general.

I'm being stupid because I'm telling those who are actually talking shit (not just saying they don't like them) to back up what they're saying? Well, you see in the real world, you actually have to back up what you say with logic and rationality. Nobody said you couldn't hate them, but when you talk shit and then lie, exaggerate, and generalize, you are going to be called out. Period. Saying Jonathan Davis "whines" about his childhood/teen years, that he always sings about how bad his life is, that their whole theme revolves around teen angst, that their music is repetative and sounds the same from album to album, etc, etc--those things ar NOT TRUE, therefore when people say that those things are reasons for saying they suck, do you really think someone who has been a fan since day one isn't going to say anything about it? I guarentee if someone talked **** about one of your precious death metal bands and then proceeded to list a bunch of reasons that weren't true you'd 1.) Think they're an absolute moron, and 2.) Call them out on it and tell them to back it up with actual facts. This Message Edited On 01.19.08

They fail to interest me in any way possible, I find it impossible to take their stupid lyrics seriously as they're obviously fake and superficial (as are most nu-metal lyrics) to grab the attention of stupid middle school kids who think their lives suck. They're just stupid and commercial all around.
their music is flat, dull and boring and jon whatshisface can't sing at all. This Message Edited On 01.19.08

No, I would agree to disagree, and not go off on an immature rant about it, because everyone's tastes are different. Here on Sputnik, Korn just happens to be particularly hated. As they should be. (because they are boring. There is your reason. Don't get too flustered)

First of all I was never talking to you in the first place. I was making a statement, saying that the same old cliche comments people make about them aren't true and that people saying they suck is one thing but when they say these other things, it sort of loses validation.
By the way, simplicity does not equal bad quality. There are many bands whose musical ccomposition is rather basic and simple--including lyrics, but they actually are saying quite a lot, just not in an overly poetic way. You don't have to be Neil Peart to be a great lyricist. But to say Jonathan Davis' lyrics are shallow and superficial kind of leaves me wondering just how much of Korn's music one has listened to.
Your opinions are fine. I have never once said anything against someone who just says they suck or that they don't like the band. My original comment was very specific and not immature in anyway. I don't think I came on here and said "Korn rulez!!!! anyone who hates them sucks ballz!!!!!" or some idiotic thing like that. I was very mature about it and simply made a statement based upon numerous observations I've made. You people still don't seem to understand that I was referring to something very specific. I guess the question here is this: What is the point of stating something that is false and then trying to use it as a reason for saying something sucks? That makes others question your credability. This Message Edited On 01.19.08

I don't care what the music is "saying" if it's flat, simple, dull and repetitive. What the music is "saying" isn't important if the music is bad. People who write bad music but good lyrics should stick to poetry.
The lyrics aren't even saying anything deep or meaningful anyway, so pretending like they are meant to be analyzed and understood on some deep and philosophical level is absurd. Korn is and always has been dull, stupid, and boring.

It depends on what you mean by deep, but that's subjective anyway so, it just comes down to the way we interpret it. The lyrics are very diverse, but usually they are simply written. But that doesn't make them shallow or meaningless. It also depends on which album you're talking about because the songwriting has evolved quite a bit over the years. Some of the songs are deep, others aren't, some are blatant and right to the point, others kind of allude to things. The problem is you generalize too much. But hey, to each their own. You find them boring and you have no connection to their music whatsoever. It is the complete opposite with me, so whatever. Big deal.
