What I think is meant by the album title is the widespread abandonment of religion, not personal abandonment by the band members or whatever. In an interview I read with Nergal he said that he wants people to really digest the message behind the lyrics; he wasn't going for the "I hate religion, so I'm gonna talk about it" approach.

From what I've heard off of this (some guy made a fake behemoth myspace with some of the tracks on it), it's alright. IMO Inner Sanctum could've just been an instrumental. Darrel's vocals on it are god awful (I like his vox with Nevermore, though). Arcanus Hereticae or whatever is a great track, as is Prometherion and the other one I listened to.

I'm gonna get this, but also I'll be prepared to be disappointed.

I like it so far, but I'm only on the third track. I'm listening inbetween comercials of Jackass. It sounds tighter then Demigod, which is strange, because Demigod was excellant, and so far this has gotten relitivly negitive publicity.

Yeah, just finished it. Alot better than were giving it credit for. The vocals on Inner Sanctum are terrible, though, and a couple songs sound alike, but otherwise, quite good.

It ungrows on you, just listen to it more.

Ye I figured, I just needed some kind of intro to kick it off.

Lykathea Aflame > Behemoth + Nile IMOThis Message Edited On 07.19.07

You can't compare that, though. I think Necrophagist > Behemoth > Nile. Technical Death Metal vs. Technical Death Metal vs. Technical Death Metal. Lykathea Aflame isn't much the same as Nile or Behemoth. That's like saying Death > Bob Dylan + The Beatles.

Behemoth isn't Tech Death really, their more of a Death Metal fused with Black Metal kind of band. Whilst, I'm rather comparing the Egyptian environment that these bands evoke. Lykathea Aflame doesn't just do this by playing highly distorted guitar leads, like Nile and Behemoth, and then calling themselves Egyptian-influenced.

There's some black metal in Demigod, not a WHOLE lot, I think the track with the most is Xul. They are considered technical brutal death metal in the same vein as Nile, though. I think the only thing earning them the technical label is the mind-spinning transitions like in the main riff in Sculpting the Throne ov Seth. I'd just put them as brutal death metal, personally.

Personally I don't see a lot of Brutal, but I think Technical DM is appropriate.

Blackened death metal. They aren't brutal death metal, that title goes to Cannibal Corpse and Cryptopsy to be fair.

They do have some technical bits but technical death metal; I'd say that would be bands like Death.

On topic, this isn't so bad after a couple of listens. But it's just your standard album, nothing is particularly outstanding.

I listened to this about 30 times, not once did I say it was great at the end. I was going to give it a 3 but I just didn't find the album enjoyable. I guess different things appeal to different people.

I have to disagree with this review, Behemoth fucking slay 90% of most death metal groups out there, and barely even have to try to do it.

I disagree. Sure maybe they slay, but this album is really just average compared to what they've done.

From what I've heard off of this, ZKC and Demigod are both better. Libertheme and At the Left Hand ov God are both pretty forgettable, even if they are decent tracks, and Inner Sanctum comes off as pretentious (even if it isn't all that bad of a track). I haven't heard Slaying the Prophets ov Isa yet, though, which I'm hoping, along with Christgrinding Avenue (which I've heard the live version of) and some other tracks will save this album.
