I just find this album rather boring for the most part. Not because of the whole Botch thing.

Sort of forgotten thread bump, but...

"Now you're doing the waltz with your murderer." - Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste.

"Like bringing a knife to a gunfight." - Creating Something Out of Nothing, Only To Destroy It.

^^this.

This band totally created a masterpiece with this record. Totally groundbreaking. Almost like the forefathers of modern metalcore.

I wouldn't call it a masterpiece but it is really damn good. Doesn't sound as much like Botch as people claim

O' God the Aftermath and We Are the Romans have very different aesthetics that prevent me from seeing the former as a clone, not to mention the albums flow differently and Norma Jean uses more clean vocals to give them some uniqueness. And if Norma Jean ripped off Botch, then Botch ripped off Deadguy.

theres a review somewhere with one of the dillinger guys saying calc infinity was just them trying to emulate Deadguy in their own style (dillingers own style)

The Botch comparison really needs to be put to rest already. Lots of bands emulate styles that they really enjoy. Norma Jean may have had some Botch influence, but I don't see why they aren't equally influenced by Drowningman, Coalesce, and other similar groups. O' God is a great album either way.

Been meaning to jam O God again, but i used to think it was just okay and a bit too rip-offy in a few parts
