Please, Circa Survive was just Anthony Green realizing that pop punk was on the way out and contrived "post hardcore" bands that use delay, reverb and picking lines were hip. He pretty much just threw a couple "post hardcore legends" to back him up and everyone is talking about how artsy Circa Survive is.

this is a user run site. i'm pretty sure anyone can just review whatever they want. This review really isn't bad. Anyone giving this album a 5 is noobish, as no one actually takes into consideration what is really deserving of a 5. People have already established the first song is wrong so relax. I give your life a 0.5 because its soooooo fucking awful.

Good god, it was just a review people. If it pisses you off so damn much, why don't you write your own review, with your own bias. Instead of bitching, how 'bout you sell us on the ideas of why you think it deserves a higher rating? hmmm...?

We are just simple humans doing simple human reviews. Sorry Iluvatar used tongue-in-cheek comedy to put forth some propaganda that Circa Survive is anything below the status of Godly. As I said earlier, if it is so offensive, write thy own review.

I just read all 6 pages. Some of the biggest lulz I've had in a while.

Never heard of this band and don't really have an interest.

"what you call a "wit piece" or a "funni revuw lol" isn't at all humorous to hardworking bands that are trying to make a living through their ORIGINAL art. As a fan, I got involved here because so many people are being influenced not to support a fantastic band due to what I see as a heavily biased, UNINFORMED review. Over 145K fans have jumped on this band's wagon because 1) their music is amazing (if you're willing to listen to it all the way through for several hearings, 2) Anthony's "contrived" lyrics resonate with so many people, 3) they are phenomenal live, and 4) they reach out to their fans like few bands do. For those reasons they deserve a little more respect than half-wit and unFUNNI commentaries. To you it is just ****ing around, to them it's their lives. I struggled with a band for a long time and I know how hard it is. Try it yourselves, it might make you more reluctant to be clever at the expense of real artists. Now, I'm done here, iamrockzorz, take it away!"

Jesus christ I have never heard so much crap in my life. First off, absolutepunk.net is a totally bias website that aims to please the scenester and wannabe scenester fans who dominate their forum. Second, Circa Survive is not art and they are not original. They are a wannabee prog rock band who saw the perfect time to capitalize on the situation. Nearly every independent or non independent band reaches out to their fans. That is nothing new. Now, that being said, I am not totally against Anthony Green. I do enjoy The Sounds Of Animals Fighting and the Saosin EP is a good listen from time to time. And we are not making fun of their lives. We are just stating the obvious. And I thought this review was extremly well written by a guy who enjoys great bands like Hot Cross and CTTS, who are way more talented the CS. You really cannot speak your mind about this review because you are a fanboy. Fanboys suck.

i'm actually like this album better than juturna. a little more diversity. juturna was really ambient, while this has some more traditional "rock" elements in it.

Anthony does not sound the same as he did on Juturna. I think he improved. His voice flows more. The songs, on Juturna, they were kind of on the awkward side. I agree with the building up of songs and then leading to nothing. Anthony needs to scream! This is a progression I believe. The drum parts don't catch my ear as much as they did on Juturna. Perhaps a few more listens. I'm digging the intros of each song. But it's lacking those memorable clever lines each song on Juturna had. And yes this has more of a rockish feel to it where Juturna had its ambience. I know I've said it already but Anthony needs to scream a little bit on their next album. I can't stress that enough. This Message Edited On 06.07.07

hmmm

well i didn't like the first album, but i love this one. Im pretty sure In The Morning And Amazing and Semi Constructive Criticism are some of the best songs ive heard come out this year, probably only topped by the new Hot Cross album. Granted, i can see some of the boring parts, and theres definitely some songs i skip because they dont have enough energy, but when i dont skip them i dont really think "this song sucks". its just that the two i mentioned are so good i wish the rest were more in that energetic vein.

This is a terrible review...dose not go into detail at all. Anybody considering checking out this album...please read the user opinions as well for a second opinion and check out the bands myspace for sample tracks. This album deserves much better than a careless review meant to stuff the reviewers opinion down others throat...rather than a balanced presentation of the albums +'s and -'s with clear thought put into both.
