Love the album, as i do almost all of their work.
i got tired of vertigo pretty quickly but i cant stop listening to Miracle Drug and City Of Blinding Lights.
I read somewhere that Original Of The Species was dedicated to Edge's daughter but im not too sure about that.

unnessesary spanish.
1-2-3-12??

It's actually "1, 2, ,3 14", and apparently refers to the fact that this is their 14th studio album...
|
| |
So there's actually a reason? That makes me feel slightly better, I was worrying...
I'm going to see them in June :p

Really? I think I am as well, at Twickenham.
*rubs hands in delight*
Seeing as how they seem to put out an album every 4 years, they really should tour more.

Fast Cars is a UK only bonus track, I think. I know it's not on the album in every part of the world.

|

The album doesn't tell you how to dismantle an atomic bomb - the title is from a line in Fast Cars. "Here in the desert to dismantle an atomic bomb" So there. ;)

Bah. Most of this is fairly average U2, besides a few songs.
|
| |
I really like U2, but I don't like the song Vertigo, I may still get this anyway, but I'd like some other U2 first, especially Achtung Baby.

This is a good album, but U2 still haven't re-peaked :/
If you put together the best tracks of this and All You Cant Leave Behind, you'd have a Joshua Tree beater.
Vertigo is one of the best rock songs I've heard in recent years, not in the classic rock sense like Stairway...but like Roll With It, instantly accessible rock that sticks in ur head.
Noel Gallagher provided the lyrical theme for 'One Step Closer' when he comforted Bono about his father's death bysaying...'Look at this way, he's one step closer to knowing'. Noel and Bono, legends.
I hate it when people point out the 'error' in Bono's Spanish...as if he doesn't know. Noobs

I hate this album. I hate U2. As far as I'm concerned, they have very little emotion in their music - they have to resort to writing about Yahweh to make a song. Bono is a very annoying singer - I really would prefer not to call him a frontman - and the rest of the band has the lyrical talent of a dead possum. "Uplifting melodies" get a bit boring after ten or so albums, don't they? Nobody seems to notice that U2 is one of THE most stereotypical bands of all time (don't start me on Coldplay) and they are, to put it flatly, horrible.
|

^Well then. Thats the final word.
I'm not a fan of U2, they're too nice for me. They seem very condescending to me, I'm just saying.
|
| |
They are too NICE for you? But...but...you like Weezer!
Metalhead though I am, I still like U2. Call it a guilty pleasure.
|
| |
Well let me rephrase that. U2 is like "the world is good. I rock on with my religious self". I cant stand that. It makes me wanna puke. Weezer's just fun and dont htink they're better than anyone else. U2 does.
