Yeah they are a decent band.

He's singing in them as kind of a side project, because he is the lead singer for Escape The Fate, a much more popular band.

The Word alive used to be called Calling Of Syrens. They disbanded for a while and came back together as the Word Alive.

I thought craig only sang in escape for that tour and one CD, and he was going to the Word Alive full time after that?

I think it's kind stupid when people say 'oh stop arguing about a bands genre, they're just music that some people like!'
Genres are there for a reason. People like to know what music sounds like, genres can help give an idea of it. If everything was just 'music that people like', there would be no way to differentiate between Mozart and Killswitch Engage if they were listed on the same page. Just one or two words can narrow that down really well, which is incredibly useful.

How right you are, however no one is going to argue genres between Killswitch Engage and Mozart.

No one will ever agree about what genre Blessthefall is. I stated in the review that I see them as a post-hardcore band. With that, some kid will still come along and claim, "NOO they r metalcore!!11 LOLz"

from my review and what other people say, whatever the genre, anyone can still get an idea of what they sound like. And at the same time, its just music. With that said, its no big deal that there is no official genre for them.

On their website, they claim themselves as a screamo band. either way, we can all put them in a different play list than classical music.

yes genres are important, yes.

but fighting over them is silly...

it is what it is go and look it up if you don't know and you want to know.

otherwise don't continue arguing in childish ignorence about whether it's one or the other.

This is a great band and i really like and appreciate their work, so keep rocking!

=] Love you all and hope you have a wonderful day!(And remember to be open minded!!!)

the genre arguments of what is between punk and metal is getting ridiculous.

i miss the days of being naive and thinking rock music was in three categories: alternative, punk, metal.

anyways... i am a native of phx and have grown up with the band. they have had ups and downs. this album was great and i still love it after two and a half years. beau is a good replacement for craig and jared is filling in on screams perfectly. this new album, i have a feeling, will be even better than HLW.

Just a note...

If you're into this band, you should check out their MySpace. They've put up a couple singles that are pretty decent. I'm getting back into Blessthefall as a result of In Fear Faith's new record, and I'm really looking forward to BTF's record in light of their new songs.

I'm not that huge on Mabbit's vocals, but the screaming in this album is generally pretty good. Personally, I think this album is decent.. it has fantastic production and some well written songs. 3.5/5

Yeah the production is alright.

The bassist Jared had the really good screams in the tracks. Craig's were so-so.

Their new vocalist is a real nice guy. He should do well with bringing some new personality in the band.

Yeah. Genres are important. Yeah, they claim they're screamo. Yeah, the description of screamo COULD fit this band.
However.

Pg. 99 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBrJUaBqpxo&feature=related

Blessthefall - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwN9ww0AWmY

DEFINITELY not the same genre. And I'm PRETTY sure that Pg. 99 are the legit screamo ones.
:]

I think 4.5 is A little high but this album is a great screamo album. Some slower tracks are unnecessary but Craig's voice is amazing. Too bad he left to ruin a once good band *sigh*
