i was reading these other reviews.

contrary to popular belief of all these kids who think everything is screamo. no fftl is not screamo/emo/hardcore.

maybe some influences from certain genres.

i used to like this band alot, this album took me a litte bit to get used to from the EP before.

the drums are solid on this one, guitar work sounds fair, i like the duo between matt and sonny. in my opinion this album did not get "alot heavier".

they were good live sometimes. sometimes they sucked ass.

On a lot of comment boards including this one, some one always has to say the band is emo. Wearing black clothing and eyeliner doesn't make a band emo, they just like wearing it that's all. You gotta listen to their songs before you can make that statement. This is definately not an emo band.

And when a band really is emo you don't need to critisize them for it. We all have a day when we feel like complete shit and feel like the saddest most depressed person in the world when something shity happens to us. I admit some emo out their is pretty pathetic, but it's not all that bad.

If you like emo fine, if you don't quite making a big deal about it. It's not like anybody's forcing you to listen to it.

But anyway, I really like this band they're awsome, I love Sonny's voice and the drummer kicks ass!

good cd. i love the cd alot, minus some of sonny's vocals. lyrics and musically, emily was great, but his voice killed the song. overall though, the cd is good. drumming is amazing.
What the hell, you genre fftl as pop-punk, If you want pop-punk try fall out boy, but hey i'm not saying they suck but, butalone makes me less like your review. If I had to classified them I would say, post -hardcore punk. Also and don't think you gave secrets don't make friends it's full credits, I mean it's lyrics were great and the singing rocked, It's most likely my fav song on the album. Anyways this band is very diverse, I can't really classify them as a genre without it sounding dumb. I mean Sonny can really put it out there with his great vocals, and he is only 17 his pretty amazing. However his whining can get annoying, but some of the song work with it. They are one of the few bands that sing and scream that actually scream and not some ****ty scream that's so fake, like some bands I know"cough cough" Hawthorne heights" cough cough **** band". But in any case it's probablly one of the best albums of the year for me, and I guess in that certain area of genre. Overall I give it a 4.5/5
I can only think of a few really pathetic emo bands. Which ones are you thinking of?

just for the record, Sonny did not do all the vocals on this CD. there are several places where the bass player is singing (the more "falsetto" vocals on "I liked you better.." for an example).

and of course, "kiss me, i'm contagious" has one of the guitarists singing the lead (i can't remember names right now)

I can't stand From first to last, mostly because if Sonny Moore was ugly the fan base would be halved.

Dear Diary is an in between album for me. Some songs would just be a 'meh' or a nothing big, but opposite that, you have songs like 'Note to Self' which is one of my favourite songs, or 'Populace in Two' which is one of the best break up songs I've heard in a while.

Pretty awesome album. i think i might do a review on it tommorow myself. Some of the songs can get kind of repetitive though. my favourites are "Note to Self" and "Kiss Me, I'm Contagious".
