Good review, but seriously this album isn't THAT good. I admit it's good, just not a classic, it lacks originality.

Honestly I think this will be looked back on as a classic of this generation. Not near my favorite, but history will be good to The Black Parade.

If the review from All Music Guide is anything to go by, you're probably right.

But guys face it whether you really dig it or not this is even now a big deal. I mean what other album in the last, say, 4 years, had as much an impact as this one as far as rock n' roll goes? I can't think of any.

lol.

I think an album/band has to be original to have real "impact". It's only been two years anyways - too soon to judge any sort of impact in my mind. This Message Edited On 05.21.08

Daughtry hasn't entered the cultural consciousness like MCR did, though, which is what I mean by it having impact. It has basically pioneered its own fashion, its own movement really. I mean who hasn't seen the Black Parade video, keeping in mind that nobody watches music videos anymore? (Overstatement but you get my point.) Overall I just think MCR has indeed had a significantly bigger impact.

And unfortunately, no, something doesn't need to be original to have impact. How original was any of that hair metal stuff in the late 80's? But it definitely had an impact. Whether we look back at MCR as more of a joke like hair metal or as truly legendary like say a Smashing Pumpkins, a NIN, a Radiohead, a Nirvana etc. remains to be seen.

In MCR's case it is also still to be seen how the next albums works out, and how it is received. With that you could see how the "movement" they pioneer is doing, if they are still maintaining their status, and if they are still relevant. (Album should be by very end this year to beggining of next year)

You can't denie that when you get new articles like this one:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1935735/Popular-schoolgirl-dies-in-'emo-sucide-cult'.html

there is definetly a movement strong enough to cause articles as stupid as that. MCR may not have created it but they did/do pioneer it.

its my chemical romance that did it with their appearance etc....

my chemical romance in my mind...is one of the first "scene" looking bands that made it into the mainstream

with that said...city of evil made a bigger impact...look at how many people started getting into metal because of that CD....

black parade was just another solid release..nothing moreThis Message Edited On 05.21.08

What are you gay? As for the album the single with the video is pretty catchy, don't mind hearing it once in a while.

He probably is, but City Of Evil was kind of the revolution of Heavy Metal for the 21st century, commercially at least.
