I think this CD could have been a lil heavier than what they produced. APC has the potential to be heavy at times but doesn't rip into the heavy mode when needed. Still a kick *** band and past cds rock but this isn't as good i thought
| | |
I heard "Imagine" and while it's decent, I don't see why APC had to make it all minory and sinister.
Nah...they didn't really. Actually, the only "minory and sinister" song on the album is "Let's Have a War" but for all I know that might have been how Fear's original sounded (haven't heard it yet).
As far as the album goes, I personally liked it. Granted, it doesn't stand up to Thirteenth Step and Mer De Noms, and could never even touch anything Maynard has recorded with Tool (with the exception of Undertow which, with only a few exceptions, was not very good) but that's simply because it's a cover album.
I think (as I believe someone mentioned before) this album should be seen as a way to introduce a younger audience to older music. In my case, I had never heard the originals of any of these songs due to the fact that the only pre-90s music I listen to is Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Rush, Pink Floyd, and Metallica. Needless to say, I was pleasantly suprised.
So the bottom line is this...If you're and APC fan, you should pick this up because, as the reviewer said, this is the last we'll be getting from them for a while. If you're not really a fan, download "Passive," "Gimme Gimme Gimme," "Fiddle and the Drum," "Let's Have a War," and "Imagine" just to see what you think.
| | |
The album is weak for APC but worth the money. I WANT NEW TOOL
I concur on both points. All hail Maynard James Keenan.
| | | i bought it a while ago, and after a while it gets boring. luckily i have lateralus to listen to :thumb:
| | | all i gata say is TOOL albums have always kiked a$$, everyone of em. APC's first album was pretty good, the 2nd album disapointing, this latest album?? ABSOLUTE CRAP. the only song i could listen to is "imagine" and thats it. honestly an ultimate letdown, maynard should just stick with TOOL and try another album but i think there style will die-out soon. dont get me wrong, i love TOOlS' music, but how many new songs can you make with that same style? i.e. slipknot-hatebreed-slayer-godsmack, these bands sound the same on every album and while sound realy good at first, you just get bored after awile.

Howdy to all....a noobie to the forum, and to all - *Hat goes off to you* On the whole APC thing, I do agree it is "ABSOLUTE CRAP!" But to be honast....I couldn't pick anyone besides Maynard to do a cover of Imagine! On the TOOL saga I don't think they ever really did change their style, and if there future music sounds as good as what has been released already.....cash in hand---->bring us a copy!
| | | bah.... i know it's not one of the best APC cd's out, but it's still an APC cd...
at least a couple of songs appeared on constatine... or i think the entire music score on that movie was APC's work... i think...
| | | 2/5
very disappointing. this record doesn't sound like a band effort, more as a solo project.
| | | i personaly own this album...i think its awsome...some of the songs on this are hypnotic in a way....especially "counting bodies like sheep the the rythem of the war drums"...and passive is also good...i usually listen to all the songs on this album...its one of my personal favorites.

/realises opinion hasnt been expressed here yet.
The one 'original' song on here is all the album is good for. The other tracks will never see the light of day again

I loved this album. This album got me hooked. Even though most of the songs are covers the meaning of the album is clearly shown. I love anything thats peace, love and understanding!
| | | I like that review. Alot of the songs are weak, but some are excellently done.
ie: Passive, Freedom of Choice, Imagine, Let's Have a War, When the Levee Breaks
Passive is undoubtedly one of the coolest songs I've ever heard, and Let's Have a War has some of the coolest drumming I've ever heard. (I know Freese overdubbed, but it's still insanely amazing).
Most of the other songs on there, I can handle... but I don't like that much. Like, if I"m in the mood, I'll let that disc spin all the way through, then put it back for a long time, but I mostly just throw my afforementioned singles onto my gigantic Winamp playlist of mixed stuff, and that's it. I'd rate it 3/5. Maybe 3.5, because Passive on its own is worth at least 0.5.
| | | Passive is an amazing song.
| | | funny....the Boss actually covers "(What's So Funny About) Peace, Love and Understanding?"

could someone tell me why paz lenchantin left...she plays incredible bass
| | | Album Rating: 4.0
I can answer that question.. and yes she is a good bass player, she played very good bass in every single song on Mer De Noms. APC have been around for close to 7 years now, forming in late 1998. Paz was the original bass player for the group, she worked on Mer De Noms, and then left. Paz can play a huge variety of instruments, she is very good though at violin, and i have heard that she left APC to follow her ambition to be a marvelous violin player, thats what i heard. Whether it is true or not is another matter, Jeordie White, the current bass player, is quite good also.
