Lines in the Sand is a great example of a prog song with all the different transitions and genre blends, like jazz fusion, etc. Trial of Tears is also great, DAT BASS. Dereks contributions are very underrated.

It's different from what they're currently doing, so it makes it interesting for me

Just listened to this one after a really long time and it's excellent. Songs like Peruvian Skies,
Hollow Years, Hell's Kitchen, Lines in the Sand and Trial of Tears are top material. Definitely
underrated and better than their last 4.

New Millennium, Peruvian Skies and Lines in the Sand are cool but there are some really horrible songs here too. You Not Me is probably my least favorite DT song ever

Anna Lee is boring as hell.

yeah, there are so many ultimately forgettable jams here

But some classics as well.
Hell's Kitchen is probably my favourite instrumental by them.

not if they maintain the taste in it, sometimes they make it sound just awful

Yeah it has it's weak moments, namely You Not Me and Burning My Soul but it has awesome moments too. I personally enjoy Anna Lee tbh and Petrucci is incredible on this album.

Guys this album is enjoyable, and Anna Lee isn't boring, she's a hoot. It's better than their last 3
easily
Productions good here, and Petrucci has some good tones. Myung grooves hard. Trial of Tears ftw

Yeah, this album has some fantastic moments, but also some of their most average.
I guess I will always have a soft spot for DT because they were one of the first metal bands I listened to.

"this is when they went pop right? can't remember anything about their discog anymore. hell, it's been 2 years since i jammed Awake my favorite of theirs"
ya Awake is sweet, their 2nd best probs. this was supposed to be their pop album but it doesn't manage to sound either catchy or proggy except on the highlights which are mostly the proggiest ones
