Well that sucks

I read this

“as far as I can tell it's just Floodgates and Skrting that aren't totally new Smile songs, hype hype hype”

In passing and for some reason my mind read “the smoke is the only song that isn’t totally new” and also assumed this meant that the other singles weren’t on it because….. they aren’t new if we’ve already heard them obviously

That’s extremely not evident by how often we argue about it

Maybe I’m thinking of Talons or conflating you two

You definitely are lol, I've always been a TKOL defender (especially when we're factoring FTB in). I got into Radiohead right when that album came out and it'll always be a favourite.

Think The Smile songs are surprisingly good besides Panavision which was boring

The Smoke is the one I've enjoyed the most tbh, but haven't heard any of the Singles since Skrting (which is like over a decade old anyway), i usually just start ignoring a band after single number 3, like chief you're not MJ, they aren't gonna spin every song off your record on the radio

Ya I really hate this trend of releasing 80% of the album in singles, really ruins the experience of hearing a new record

surprised there isn't a staff review up for the The Smile - thought it'd be an advance copy / in time for the release kind of deal given who's involved

Maybe these things 'depend' - not throwing shade at anyone here

Album is okay I think (some of it anyway). I could go either way on this. Sounds like a hodgepodge of recycled ideas done in sometimes (maybe) good ways. Hoping it grows.

from memory 'The Smoke' was definitely one of the better tracks. Ah and that Thin Thing was quite interesting too.

Not sure I could pick any of the rest out of a line-up yet.

i like it, it's just early 2000s Radiohead b-sides

under absolutely no circumstances should you nerds vote for it at the end of the year though

Somewhat off topic but why do I always forget about Harry Patch. I think it's easily one of my favorite 5 songs they've ever done.
