Haha imagine priding yourself on how completely you can suck the joy out of a room, or in this case, a music thread.

"Plus, the whole thing reads to me like a love letter to blackness, black art and black music."
this is exactly what I like about the concept of this album. only taking (sub)genres that are highly linked with black culture and build a concept album about black identity and discrimination with it.
big [2] to this. which segue's nicely into
So are we pretending that these people write songs that sound the same or have the same artistic direction?
no not at all, i'm just not overstating how many different stylistic directions are apparent here, especially when the number that are there are so intrinsically and explicitly related culturally, conceptually, and stylistically.
*GASP* You take what you said about Freddie BACKKK. I LOVE HIM. On collabs anyway. His solo stuff is hit and miss.
i don't think he's terrible or anything i'm just a bit salty that madlib could have literally anyone in the game and he's been consistently collaborating with someone that, to me, is kind of just.... meh.
And I just mention that hip hop figures like this record to sort of counter what you said about heads disliking/not acknowledging it. And let's be honest, us music fans can get up our own asses pretty easily.
yeah for sure but theres a disconnect between heads who are/were actually a part of the rap game and heads who are just the audience. heads that are actually in the game all actually know and network with each other and often have a lot more positive attitudes to their peers where audience are just a bunch of snobby elitist pricks with no first hand knowledge of the personalities. but i did already mention that i think the heads (audience) in question often disregard kendricks accomplishments or understate their opinions of his music just because he's 'mainstream'. elitism is an ego game after all. i don't personally agree with their dismissal, but have definitely seen it time and time again from that particular demograph.
And ultimately, its not that I disagree with most of what you're saying. You speak fairly. I'm just very willing to die on the "TPaB is amazing" hill lmao
well, it is pretty amazing! and i think a 5 is very valid.

And I think of proofreading as refining your original thought to make it as clear as possible for the person reading, despite not doing much of that on internet comments. lol

"Reefa, PLEASE tell me you tripped at least once on that short ass run you took."
As a healthy, fit alpha male with a trained body I of course didn't trip. A dorito dust covered double-chinned nerd riddled with acne like you wouldn't know anything about running though.

lol Yes, I'm very overweight and have never exercised a day in my life. Not that I'd judge someone too terribly for that anyway. As I recoil from reading the sewage-like thoughts that seep from your head, I realize that I only have myself to blame for not being able to resist acknowledging you again.
