just because you don't get what they're saying with those lyrics doesn't make them any bad, bought a bride has some of the best lyrics jesse's written, and I was just joking about the long cars thing

"just because you don't get what they're saying with those lyrics doesn't make them any bad,"
It makes them bad in my opinion because they seem stupid, of course if someone could actually explain to me I might change my mind but I doubt anyone could because on Daisy they're just random rhyming shit most of the time
" bought a bride has some of the best lyrics jesse's written,"
They're some of the better ones on Daisy but they still don't touch most of Deja and Devil imo
" and I was just joking about the long cars thing"
I realise that

I think part of what makes daisy great, at least for me, is how cryptic most of it is, but for the most part it deals with the same subjects of devil and god, just expressed in a different way

Album Rating: 3.8
I think it's just too cryptic to the point of sounding, at least to me, like random shit they just wrote off the top of their heads
There are certainly good lyrics here and there on it but there are also awful ones

Don't remember Daisy too well. But Rowan it sounds like what your describing is poetic nonsense. I love that when it's vague and all that shit. But I could understand people not liking those types of lyrics.

On Daisy it isn't even poetic for most of the time it's just nonsense, In A Jar is the only song I would describe as lyrically poetic and that has some of my favourite lyrics on the album
I prefer straightforward, clever and meaningful lyrics

I love both kinds. But lyrics that make me think are fucking great

yeah well after all daisy was meant to be polarizing
rowan if you haven't yet, I think you should check this interview with jesse
http://www.extremenonchalance.com/post/29055827334/brandnewinterview
it kinda helps explaining where daisy was coming from

I probably listen to daisy more than any other brand new

In a jar, Daisy, noro and you stole I think have some really great lyrics. The rest have good mixed with bad. But the songs as a whole I think are really strong despite some lyrical downsides. Vices, at the bottom, gasoline and bed are all great songs despite their lyrical downsides

If it was meant to be polarising then they certainly accomplished that, I can't understand why a band would deliberately make a polarising album though
but yeah I'll check that interview thanks man

Hmm really interesting interview but it doesn't much change my opinion of the album's lyrics, I still stand by the fact that there is some awful shit in there

God yeah if only it had made this album in the place of Not the Sun

the chorus section is atrocious and it's one of their worst songs to date
imo

Well don't be that note I can't hold
Well don't be that joke that I told and told 'til it got old
Don't be that hand 'round my throat so I can't breath
Say you're my friend but why won't you be my family?

Album Rating: 5.0
It's one of their weaker songs but I feel like it's a necessary addition to this album and the verses and bridge make up for the weak chorus
