I mean you like The Game so it's pretty apparent to me that we will have exactly zero opinions in common when it comes to the evolution of hip-hop from the end of the 90s through the 00s

"Plus, the whole thing reads to me like a love letter to blackness, black art and black music."
this is exactly what I like about the concept of this album. only taking (sub)genres that are highly linked with black culture and build a concept album about black identity and discrimination with it.

^^^ A huge part of the goodness of this record for sure. Kendrick used his platform as one of the biggest current rappers and did something special with it, like not many care to do.
@ pots: "can't we rate this highly without grievously overstating the diversity of that line up?" So are we pretending that these people write songs that sound the same or have the same artistic direction?
"well, not that it matters but freddie gibbs is mediocre at best imHo and none of what i said contradicts 'hip hop figures cosigned this record' anyway." *GASP* You take what you said about Freddie BACKKK. I LOVE HIM. On collabs anyway. His solo stuff is hit and miss. And I just mention that hip hop figures like this record to sort of counter what you said about heads disliking/not acknowledging it. And let's be honest, us music fans can get up our own asses pretty easily.
And ultimately, its not that I disagree with most of what you're saying. You speak fairly. I'm just very willing to die on the "TPaB is amazing" hill lmao

"Looking at your ratings right now and you’ve given many classics low scores so I can’t really take your taste that seriously.
You gave 1’s to Eazy Duz It and The Eminem Show
2’s to 2001, Marshall Mathers LP
And 3’s to Doggystyle, Amerikkkas Most Wanted, Death Certificate, Straight Outta Compton, The Cold Vein, Lifestyles ov da poor and dangerous, 6 feet deep, 93 til infinity, modal soul, and metaphorical music
Idk how any rap fan can dislike those (especially the lower rated ones) yet still act like they have the correct opinion lol"
I've also given great scores to plenty of classics but you forgot those. Eminem sucks and a lot of those albums you named had 1 or 2 great songs with the rest being filler. Like name those classic songs on 93 til infinity other than the title track? Also it's pretty clear that your taste in music is shit when looking at your ratings.

1-2 great songs on 2001 or Death Certificate? That’s crazy talk
Sorry about all that Reefa. I don’t know why I got so worked up about that. We can both have different opinions (:

To quote myself: "And let's be honest, us music fans can get up our own asses pretty easily." Lmao let's please not get on our taste high horses. We probably all think we have better taste than the next person.
And Eminem has definitely evolved into a parody of himself that should stop rapping, but like fuck. 93' til Infinity is a bop THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH. Leave that record tf alone.
Edit: And DaHound is right about Death Certificate. You're NUTS

2001 is literal trash compared to The Chronic lmao

Also I've given a 3 to Death Certificate which is pretty generous of me since I don't like Ice Cube.

@DaHound: Nah dude, don't even back down. lmao Reefa's talking like he loves the smell of his own shit rn.
And tbh I dig The Chronic and 2001 about equally, while neither to me are exactly classics. I like Dre but he's not even close to a GOAT for me.

The inflated ego around your opinion of things is wildly unattractive, sir. Plus, Mr. Keef largely is not my thing, but Sosa has a few ignorant bops and I can't take that from the man. Feneto and Love Sosa are just plain old fun.

“ 2001 is literal trash compared to The Chronic lmao”
You are very alone in this lol. That album is amazing. I think I like it more than Chronic nowadays. That’s one of the like classic hip hop debates too between which is better. What’s so bad about it?
And MillionDead I really just don’t feel like putting out the negative energy I used to. Easier to just let it go.

Reefa just might ruin this album for me by sheer virtue of liking it and simultaneously being himself.
Edit: "I've forgotten more about hip hop than you will ever know" HAHAHA, I adore a nice baseless claim. Tell us more about how you're a better music asshole than all of us other music assholes.
