Yeah, I can't deny Tool fans are insufferable. I love Tool but that fanbase is really bad. My friends aren't like that thankfully

It's sad really. Performance-wise they were pretty much flawless when I saw them live, but good god the crowd took me out of it more than a few times. People were starting fights over seats and folks near the back continually surged to the front even after being told by security to return to their seats. And a ton of them were tripping balls and/or smelled bad.

Basically my experience too.

If we’re talking bad fans my submission is: 95% of hip-hop fans at shows who just stand there trying to look cool with their hands in their pockets, and look at you weird if you even attempt to vibe with the music

I can totally understand why ppl would hate super-fans, but at least they are there to enjoy the experience and not just for a dumbass social outing

The friends that are into metal are either generic Asking Alexandria bullshit core or generic stupid ass black/death metal (okay okay, I admit: I kinda dislike black and death metal).

Actually there are some death/black metal bands that are really good but just too many that sound exactly the same. And I meant the latter for my distaste

true that. I still don't know why black/death triggers me so hard. Maybe it's the cliché, I don't know. Maybe because I can't read a single fucking band name. Maybe because every name (be it album or band name) is either nordic mythology, ancient stuff, fantasymedieval or gore.

I’m more into death metal than black metal but if you’re not into any of that stuff you mentioned, it’s probably not for you. It’s all a part of the culture, although a lot of it is pretty tongue-in-cheek and not meant to be taken too seriously. There are plenty of bands that break out of the typical conventions of the genres though. Can you give any examples of particular bands that didn’t sit well with you?

Thankfully most of my closest friends absolutely love the same music as me for the most part which is pretty awesome. Of course I have some others that wouldn't touch anything I listen to with a ten inch pole but I don't care.
