Has anyone listened to this recently having never heard it before? You've listened to Muse and what not and then someone's pointed you towards this so you've spun it. What did you think of it?

I heard this a few months ago for the first time having listened to Muse for about 5 years (and Kid A, In Rainbows and HTTT for 2/3 years). I wasn't that into Muse (or those three Radiohead albums) at that point and expected this to be a mildly cool listen that wouldn't really catch on. It blew me away and sounded fresh as hell; I prefer the first half significantly but this album is so tight and powerful that I had to admit that it fits the hype.

Cool. Cheers johnny it's hard to get me head around sometimes how 'reveloutionary' this was at the time. I hope it hasn't been diluted but judging from your response it still holds that special something. I'm spinning it now.

"Please elaborate on why you disagree with the near-universal consensus that this is one of the greatest albums ever."
Well, one of the greatest considering its importance is out of question. But I'm not rating the importance or impact of records. It's rather the opposite, I try to ignore that.
Focussing on the listening experience, there are certain issues for me that might just be very subjective and personal. For one thing I don't see anything revolutionary sound-wise. It's a nice mix of influences and I'm definitely not criticizing anything from a technical point of view. Most of it is on point, even if certain ups and downs seem quite obvious, if compared to the complexity and precision of something like Paranoid Android.
But what bugs me is rather the feel of the album. It always had something stale and distant that didn't resonate with me. I feel like it should trigger some deep emotions, but fails to do that thanks to some sort of melodramatic "epicness" (for the lack of a better word) they aim for. And that is to some extent Yorkes fault, who is not only rather meh with some of his lyrics, but doesn't seem to know when it's too much vocal-wise.
And thanks to the album having that kind of cold aura that seems rather theatrical than emotional, it's a bit exhausting on the whole. Except for PA, Karma Police and Climbing Up The Walls it's too often a record that tells me I should admire it rather than "feel it".
Also Kid A > this for sure

@KrazyKris: I've always felt that what coldness there is reflects the alienation that is so much the focus of the album. Although I have to say that I don't think the album is in fact terribly cold (certainly it's a lot warmer than Amnesiac). And I have a hard time seeing how Let Down doesn't make you feel anything; that is one of the most cathartic songs I've ever heard. The whole album feels extremely cathartic and relatable to me.
But to each his own. Clearly you don't think its a bad album by any means.
