the lyrics are basically just 'dear, i'll stay gold' over and over until jake literally belts out 'fuck you' right at the end
he's defiant in the face of total rejection, he'll keep his shit together and the music reflects that, utter abrasive attitude dudez slammin their instruments like rabid monkeys
of course it's all bravado and over the course of the album you see it devolve into despair
