"The ‘ooo ahhh eee ahhh eee ahh’ moment on Charging the Void still takes me to another realm every time."
I hate that part tbh

Aw man but it builds to a fever pitch, I kinda see why some would find it grating but it transcends for me.

"Most relevant thrash since the early 90s, in my opinion"
This statement confuses me considering that a lot of early to mid-'90s thrash acts who still managed to be compositionally ahead of much of the black/death of the time still went summarily ignored. If anything, Vektor's just profiting off the false idea that thrash as a subgenre withered away artistically by 1988.

Not sure that's necessarily true, and even if it is it seems a little harsh. It's not as if Vektor are 'taking advantage' of anything about the genre or its history. There was a lot more thrash back then than there was death or black metal, so it makes sense that a saturated genre had its musical victims. Vektor are just getting so much attention because the album is so fucking good. Maybe timing plays a 10% role in that, but their music does speak for itself imo.

This album has grown off me a bit since I revisited it. It's still fantastic, but Coroner and Voivod have timeless classics which in comparison never grow old. Might be because the production on this is kinda weak.

As good as this is, it doesn't stack up to Coroner. Mental Cortex is on a different level compared to most music.

It's probably good that the album is divisive.
When it came out I feared every woman, man and child on Earth could not deny this quality and turn into metalheads overnight, thus diluting our precious culture.
But thankfully many people are unable to appreciate real quality.

Voivod's and Coroner's classic trioligy are the best prog thrash albums, no denying that.

An album with a 4.3 average is hardly divisive, but I get what you mean.

Remarkable average considering the hype machine, usually that attracts people outside of the usual crowd & then it plummets. Quite a few people who tried this couldn’t get past the BM-style vox, some probably don’t like harsh vox period.

I always thought clean vox in thrash were more off-putting to newcomers of the genre tbh
