Tbh most of the people who think that modern music sucks aren't giving it a proper chance:

Titan, I took a look to your ratings for albums released within the past few years, and most of them were from the likes of Foo Fighters, AC/DC, Rush, Devin Townsend, Cynic and Opeth, which all have a common factor of having declined in quality (at least their in the eyes of their fanbases) for the past few years. I wonder how you're going to find modern classics, if you're almost exclusively listening to new records from bands, which reached their artistic peak 20 years ago..

Nothing wrong with that in itself, but it's kind of close-minded to say that there aren't great/amazing new albums if you don't give them a proper chance tbh

'that said, a 3 on sput to most people is a borderline bad album lol'

thats more like what i meant. the '3' for many people doesnt imply 'good', but just grudgingly passable. and it isnt like radiohead is considered a bad band where a '3' implies theyre doing something right for once, its kind of a veiled insult.

Skinny fists?

For an album to be deemed truly 'overatted' it has to have shifted the cultural zeitgeist, influenced the 'scene' born a countless rip offs and cemented itself in the fabric of the art form, holding a place in history and held in whatever regard as representative of its time and place.

Skinny fists came, went and people love it,hate it or like it. The fact is music isn't as revolutionary as it was. Artists aren't 'spokespersons for an entire generation' nobody is cos we are all self absorbed arseholes projecting our own bullshit opinions on a constant basis to nobody who cares.......see what I've done there :D
