No I hadn't. I generally tune out sarcasm that isn't coming from me.

3/5 is 60 percent, and a difference of 0 to 60.hmmmmm?

I get masses of enjoyment by going on youtube and telling off all of the Trivium fans. Also at school. There are two kids who love these guys and one of them, nobody likes and he said that The Crusade is the best album ever and he's never heard any Metallica. :/
Detonation is catchy but I just can't understand how people willingly listen to that.

Trivium fanboys are a riot. The only problem is that most of them are so god damn retarded that a proper display of wit turns the whole thing into something akin to premature ejaculation: it's all over too quick.

First off I'm gonna start by saying that Trivium is my favourite band and The Crusade my favourite album I know (yeah virtually guaranteeing a flaming here).
Regardless of this I'd have to say that the review was well written in terms of the language used and the way the ideas were expressed. However there was way too much POV in it.
Stuff like "Heafy's vocals are worse then ever" is merely opinion and IMO holds no place in a well written review. You may not personally enjoy his voice but it's not as though he sings out of key or pitches etc.
Another example of POV writing is branding This World Can't Tear Us Apart a Celine Dion single with palm muting; if you really wanted to write a decent review you would've said something along the lines of it being The Crusade's answer to DIYA minus the screaming.
I also have to query your reluctance to call a band that you claim to be a blatant Metallica clone Thrash Metal. Is there any particular reason you won't? And if so what genre would you call them?
There's also a couple of other Metallica references that didn't make much sense but I'm not gonna bother with those, but I will bring up Heafy's vocals once again. If you (and everyone else it seems) believe he's ripping off James Hetfield, does that mean he's also ripping off Chuck Billy and Dave Mustaine? Or any other Thrash vocalist? Would that mean if I started a Bay Area styled Thrash band I'd also be ripping off those vocalists?
IMO Trivium's sound (as a whole) on The Crusade is more comparable to early Testament and Megadeth then it is to Metallica. Now admittedly they aren't the most original band out there but to call them blatant rip-offs is clearly taking it too far.
Even though I prefer The Crusade to Ascendancy I'd have to say it probably isn't as 'good' as their second album. As was mentioned the solos on Ascendancy fit the music better etc and 2 of the songs (Anthem and Rising) are pure cheese metal (which I don't personally think is a bad thing) but this is essentially Trivium's first album in their 'new' style (much like Pantera's "power metal") and I look forward to their next release =)
Happy Huntings. That is all.

^You contradict yourself so many times that I won't even dwell on the obvious. But if the reviewer thinks that Heafy's vocals are worse than ever, then by all means he's allowed to state so. Reviews are opinions. What he can't say is "Heafy's vocals are the worst, ever." That is all I'm going to point out because I haven't heard this to really counter your whole comment, but something tells me you're still kind of wrong. This Message Edited On 03.11.07

I like The Crusade more because it doesn't use the screaming as much; but I think Ascendancy was better in terms of the song writing and instrumental aspects

You can have a favourite album and still admit that there are better albums out there.

I just don't get how the reviewer comparing a song to a Celine Dion single detracts from the overall review. It's well-written. You don't have to agree with the comparison, but why do any of them detract from the review and make it not even decent?

When I was writing it I thought he said "radio rubbish" but he didnt . ..
And I wrote most of it moreso as a general "is there any reason you hate them" kinda thing then solely a review of a review
