Ya Hum of Hurt is def the better of the two but Doom in Bloom is no slouch either, I think it will really depend on how strong of an opener Slip the Noose is… that’s a really ominous song title and I get the feeling it’s gonna be heavy as balls

Doom in Bloom is such a Converge type song title im surprised they only just now used it.

I’m also really curious how different this version of I Won’t Let You Go is. It’d be really cool if the song is entirely reworked but I get the feeling the changes will mostly be with production. The original sounds much closer to the style of Dusk, and I think this version will sound more like this record. For one, I think the drums have a lot more power to them here, the lower end is a lot more prominent in general imo. According to wiki it is a couple of seconds shorter so maybe they have it transition more smoothly into the next track rather than the abrupt ending of the Cyberpunk version.
The song titles in general are grim as fuck man. Slip the Noose, It Only Gets Worse, and It Used to Matter specifically all sound incredibly depressing. The album art has also grown on me a lot now that I’ve read Jacob’s reasoning behind it. It’s definitely the most unique artwork out of their entire discography. AWLWLB is also fairly unique for them but if I would never think this is a Bannon piece if I didn’t know any better.
People in my life (and on this site) are really not ready for how insufferable I’m gonna be with two fucking Converge albums to obsess over.
My tin foil hat theory is that they’ll drop an EP with the rest of the songs by the end of 2026. They did say they had nearly 30 song ideas floating around… it’d be cool if we got a Beautiful Ruin style EP before the end of the year.

We already got Cruel Bloom too.

The limited edition art/billboard art for Hum of Hurt is so much cooler than the official cover, although a little too Jane Doe looking. The official one is too plain.

I actually got the edition with the Jane looking art over the actual art… lemme see if I can find it. The vinyl variant itself is so fucking sick too

So sick dude. And I’m positive it’s supposed to be a nod to Jane Doe. It’s iconic artwork, they literally use it as their banner for most shows, and it’s gonna be 25 years old come September. The stars just kinda aligned I guess.
I’m absolutely giddy to get my hands on this vinyl though, I should be getting my neurosis one soon too. I’m wondering why it’s taking so long for physical copies to ship for so many records this year. I understand for Neurosis considering it was a surprise drop but these two Converge records don’t have physical copies shipping until like a month after the digital release.
Im sure it will be worth the wait though. This version of Hum of Hurt is absolutely stunning and I love my variant of Love is Not Enough too. I’d love to own all of their records some day, but the original Poacher Diaries is a fortune and Halo is probably even more. I don’t own originals of Petitioning or WFCC either, just the “Petitioning Forever” edition that includes both. But I have first presses of everything from Jane onward… I’m pretty sure my Jane Doe is worth a pretty penny but I don’t think I could part ways with it unless I get real desperate. It’s seriously one of my most prized possessions. My version of The Stage by Avenged Sevenfold is also signed by the entire band and hasn’t left its original wrapping, but the dickhead that dropped it off had a fucking corner bent so it’s by no means mint, I also got my 180g version of Gore by Deftones signed by the whole band aside from Frank.
I’m blabbering, in short: I’m beyond fucking stoked for Hum of Hurt and will display it prominently among the rest of their records. I expect it to be even better than this… and I love this goddamn album.

That Jane press is absolutely worth a pretty penny. Someone at a local record shop recently unloaded about 22 copies of Jane Doe and most of them were gone within days. Must have been worth a fortune. The shop also hid free tickets to their upcoming tour in one of the records.
Just checked discogs for Halo and big yikes, only one copy available and it’s almost $700 after shipping lol

Yeah… fuck that man. If I liked the album more **maybe** I’d be willing to dish out that kind of cash but it’s just not worth it to me.
I got very lucky with my Jane Doe one, I think the guy must’ve been desperate but I only paid $75 for it.

Ooof Doom in bloom had a really strong opening riff... then it kinda went flat. It's still solid but the riff had so much unrealized potential. maybe I'll warm up to it.

Man... I legitimately want to see about changing the default album art lol. Idc that the special edition looks like JD; it's vastly superior to what they picked.

First we get Primal Bloom from PTW, now Doom in Bloom from Converge? Is it just coincidence that they’re touring together too hmmm? I think not! It’s the fucking Illuminati lol.
Yeah. Dib isn’t as strong as Hum, but solid nonetheless. Jut doesn’t particularly stand out after two listens.
