If mean girls is supposed to be satire of some kind it's not very good at it, what exactly is the subversion of the attitude or personality displayed in the song supposed to be?
Also considering she is friends with Dasha who the song is confirmed to at least be inspired by I highly doubt it's a criticism of any kind, especially when she is ride or die for clowns like Matty Healy and Julia Fox

Yeah it's not satire, it's just a song about being an "it girl" and it slaps

'I think the lyrics on Mean Girls are pretty clearly a pastiche. She said in an interview she's more curious about the aesthetics of edgy culture than actively engaging with it. Like, yeah, there's a ton of valid criticisms of Dasha and Red Scare but there's an appeal that's there for a lot of people and the song is sorta celebrating that with a very surface level read. Don't think it's that big of a deal'
^ odal described it as a pastiche and not a satire. they are not the same thing
i personally wouldnt call it a pastiche, more just 'tongue in cheek' or ironic (which again, doesnt equal satirical)

Well the whole thing about this album is literally being a "brat"

isn't embodying a thing sometimes a more effective means of critique than an essay-style missive on why the thing is bad or problematic
doesnt pop sometimes just kinda hedonistically embody things even so, and it's good, even if you don't like the thing, because sometimes art allows us to engage perpendicular elements of our identity and desires at the same time
that said it's also true that you're allowed to find it lame and the lameness can be tied to what you want

My bad for reading too quickly and mixing satire and pastiche up in my head, I still find it very gross and feel like the framing of it glorifies what she's talking about, not just on that song but scattered throughout the whole album, and the knowledge that it's all intentional and playing into the idea of being a "brat" doesn't change much because there is no meaningful commentary on it imo, you're not subversive for playing into a negative stereotype boldfaced, you've just become the negative stereotype

I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously. The chorus is "This on'es for all my mean girls".... it's a bit like "let's have a toast for the douchebags." It's basically a song about feeling like a bad bitch, and painting a fairly fantastical, stereotypical view of. "Worships Lana Del Rey in her Airpods, yeah/yeah she's in her mid-twenties, real intelligent" is hilarious

Is she really? Kind of makes sense. She used to date “Adam friedland”, I think, who my high school bff knows well, but that’s funny.
The discourse is heating up
