Would you say all 'Peth's albums have audible bass?

You've listened to these guys much more than I have.

Most aren't that audible tbh. Its mainly this and Orchid. Heritage too obviously

Yeah but where Orchid and this have Johann De Farfalla on the fretless 6 string tearing Mikael a new asshole, Heritage just has that new Martin fella who really doesn't do too much.

lol mendez isn't new at all.

opeth has pretty audible bass for a metal band, its just that this album has the coolest performance. i wouldn't say an album is better than another just bc the bass is audible. you're either into it or not. you like the bass here bc it rules, not bc its audible.

No, I like the bass here because it's fucking audible and it rules. Bass that rules is worthless if its inaudible, and Mikael explicitly asked Johann to leave because he didn't want the bass to be as big a part of the sound as it was here.

Also there are heaps of metal bands with much better bass audibility and creativity than modern Opeth.

I also agree with "heaps of metal bands with much better bass audibility and creativity than modern Opeth"

there are just heaps of bands that have worse audibility and creativity.

Bass is audible on most of their albums man, just listen to the outro of Heir Apparent on Watershed or April Ethereal on MAYH for example

lol

The bass playing on Heritage is some of the best on any Opeth album (much more restrained than on here of course but that's certainly not a bad thing). The rhythm section's playing on Heritage is brilliant.

Opeth's die-hard fanbase is already a gang practically. If the band decided to release an album in the style of Radiohead, they'd be defending it in a heartbeat and making claims that it will be the best piece of music that will be out for the next two years or something

Sup CK.

@Emyay: Bass audibility =/= album quality, it's just a plus man.
