Lovesong's still my fav on here. Closedown and Plainsong are the worst for me, that's where this gets too over the top musically.

I agree with Closedown but Plainsong is one of the best opening tracks i've ever heard.

doesn't get any better than the same deep water as you. prayers for rain and t/t are close 2nd and 3rd for me

lovesong is nothing but a silly pop song even though smith's vocals are amazing on that too

Lovesong is definitely the shallowest most inoffensive song on here but it still rules

Plainsong's lyrics are superb, but I never liked it much musically.

but seriously can we talk about how crushingly depressive the same deep water is?

Lovesong was written as a wedding present to his new bride right?

Same Deep Water isn't even the song on this that crushes me the most but yea

@clay possibly. Pretty fucking sweet present

Lovesong's biggest virtue is its simplicity, both musically and lyrically. That's what makes it a perfect love song. And I don't think it's cheesy at all, even more so in a way it's as honest as a love song could ever be, exactly because it doesn't try to describe the emotion in some poetic and pseudo-sophisticated way, but practically by reducing it to the simple thing it is.

Also The Same Deep Water As You is amazing.

what's that song then row? because the atmosphere on same deep water... it's fucking heavy . and so are the lyrics

Homesick probably crushes me the most. I've always found Pictures of You to be the 'happiest' song on the record despite it obviously not being a happy song.

Untitled crushes me the most

in every other song you can hear them gunning for the sad vibe but Untitled's just feels so natural and true that it's almost content to be depressing

which makes it much more unsettling than any other track here imo

"And I don't think it's cheesy at all, even more so in a way it's as honest as a love song could ever be"

well i don't think i will ever love anyone like that and my bitterness makes every simplistic love song seem annoying and cheesy to me

The beauty of that song kinda... adds to its harsh impact for some reason

it sounds like someone giving up on life and writing a farewell song like "yep I'm content to live in this black hole of depression forever"

idk
