I'm not saying anyone is thinking this (although SOMEONE definitely is, probably), but imagine trying to discredit a prominent and pioneering shoegaze band, whilst simultaneously championing a failed black metal band's amateur attempt at the same genre.

"For real, Mombasa is the best song they’ve done. I really think that. Sorry Dream House."

"every song is here is super duper oriented around obvious Huge Moments that have more in common with post-rock songwriting than shoegaze"

Yeah his vox are plain but they kinda work the more I listen. It gives the album a more dream like quality. Plus, Slowdives vox are really anything to brag about but they’re a god tier band nonetheless.

This has sort of fallen on the backburner between jamming Colors II and Interrobang, but I vow to give this a 3rd spin soon and see if it totally grew off me or is still amazing.

Honestly though my minimum cutoff for writing a review is 3 listens, just to rate something I typically do 2 listens or sometimes just 1 if it's blatantly awful.
