Really good album, but not quite career topping.
Didn't quite resonate for me the way Volition did.
I think I could have taken the B-Side tracks on the album, and left off a few other tracks instead.

Yeah uh the final part of Kezia is defs best

Idk, I didn't feel like the B sides off this are better than the regular tracks at all

dueling cavalier is straight up my favorite of these songs so many absolutely stunning vocal melodies all throughout that one, so im very frustrated they didnt actually put it here
gift horse is also very sick and definitely belongs on the tracklist but i havent really sat down with this since these songs came out to figure out the order, which i really need to do bc adding those two would make this their best

I would be interested in suggestions for alternate track lists tbh

I would not be mad if this album opened with Harborside/All Hands

I think you need something before Harborside. One of the reasons why it, and all the interludes, work so well is you have this intense song before them and each one serves as a pallet cleanse to the next one. If it started with Harborside I don't think it would have the same bite.

Yea, and I wouldn't want to start the album with its best song tbh

that's a fair point, though I often like a lot of albums where the opener sets the tone, and All Hands does that really well
also I'm listening to this album again for the first time in a while and somehow All Hands is even better than I remember?

All hands is great. This is true.
I think if I were to include the B sides on the album it would be
Migrant Mother
Gift Horse
The Canary
From the Sky
Harborside
All Hands
Fireside
Soliloquy
Reverie
Little Snakes (I could also take or leave this track)
Duelling Cavaliers
Mountainside
Gardenias
Hillside
Rivet

This is great
Enjoyed Pacific Myth, but this feels like a step up. Kinda had started to lose interest in new music from these guys but this might be changing that

yeah I thought this band would tailspin into obscurity but this is a fantastic album

@Project I was kind of worried about that too, especially after Pacific Myth, which I thought was a huge miss considering the strength of their catalogue. But this album proved me wrong. I can't wait to see what comes next for them.

This one is really satisfying. But I wouldn't expect another one exactly like it, the B-sides are getting a bit tiresome for me.

I was actually thinking about that this morning. I wouldn't be surprised if their next one was more one-off sort of songs like Volition.

Album is great (and a step up from Pacific Myth) but I still think Arif was their best lyricist.
Kezia is a perfect album btw, no skippable tracks.

I always liked Fortress the most out of their discog, but Kezia is a close second

"Kezia is a perfect album btw, no skippable tracks."
This is the truth.
One thing I will say is that Arif was a great lyricist, but none of his lyrics felt as personal as the ones on Palimpsest. I could also be just that Rody is singing his own stuff but by obscuring one's message in metaphor I think it can also sometimes muddle the emotion behind it.

Finally getting around to listening to this and I can tell a lot of the tracks are gonna have to grow on me but goddamn if "All Hands" isn't one of the best songs they've ever made, musically and lyrically.

Yeah, All Hands and From The Sky are easily amongst their best.
