There are a ton of movies that you could literally call "Joker" and trolls will come out of the woodwork, saying they "love it" because Batman. The House That "Joker" Built is literally one of those movies, same with something like Nightcrawler with Jake Gyllenhaal (or "Nightjoker" and BANG! it makes a billion). The House That Jack Built blew me away, one of the rare movies I've seen that I was mixed on after first-viewing and then grew to love as more time passed; it's now one of my all-time favorite films. It's thought-provoking, it's skin-crawlingly disturbing, it's darkly hilarious, and it's everything Joker isn't.

lmao this is exactly why i have 100% certainty that Joker could have been a 10/10 movie if it was in the hands of a good director.

I feel you, that's my favourite type of movie. The ones where you don't know how to feel until days or weeks or months later you're still thinking about them.
I remember specifically saying to my gf (as we watched House That Jack Built not long before seeing Joker) "if this was anything like House That Jack Built at least it would fucking warrant the controversy"
Like dat scene with the gf and her kid...

I liked THTJB a lot, very hard watch. Could've used some editing with regards to length, but no one that sees it is like to forget it.
|
| |
I feel like with movies like that the length only adds to the tension and makes it even harder to watch... which in this instance is a good thing... imo lol
it tests you

Still have to see THTJB, Matt Dillon is a clossic

the intermissions(?) are definitely very purposeful but it makes it kinda hard to watch in one sitting. This is coming from someone that usually likes a good slow burn flick mind you, but it's a fairly minor criticism overall.

Von Trier is a hack and The House that Jack Built was trash typical of his work. Vinterberg he is not. Also, at least The Joker works as pastiche.

That comment was trash typical of your work

Liking Von Trier definitely fits with that avatar. By the way, I didn't know they had internet at safe injection sites.
