I don't really like Matt's solo part on that song but the rest is great.

After just a few plays I'm already fatigued from this album. There are like 4 really good songs here but even then I don't feel like listening to them most of the time. For me at least, going back through their discography has made this (and especially SWB) seem incredibly weak compared to their older stuff

I'm liking a lot of parts of this album, but I don't know how much of it I will return to in the future. So far my favorites are Quiet Light, t/t, Where is Her Head, Rylan and Light Years.

Probably my least favourite National record ever. I quite like the t/t and Sad Songs. Still, 3.5 ain't bad.

Am I the only one who finds The National's records so extremely hard to rate?
It takes me more than 10 spins... So far this is not clicking for me...

Yus Hans!
Yeah at this point I feel like I couldn't possibly wring out any more enjoyment from the record. Some National songs on past albums have taken a while to grow on me but I sincerely doubt that's the case here.

To be honest I'm feeling this is quite a snoozefest. So hard to keep concentrated, and its running time doesn't make things easier...

Towers to the skies
An academy of lies
Is this a Guided by Voices shout-out?

This album is much more tolerable if you're actively doing something else, like driving or even playing a game. Not so much if you're deeply listening to it. Kind of says it all.

they were incredible when i saw them touring TWFM in early 2014
would probably depend on setlist though
can't imagine it being that good if full of SWB and stuff from this honestly

I'm enjoying this album and I adored SWB so I'm going to remain optimistic that my boys deliver a high-quality show
