I love looking at this average too much to rate it yet, in hopes that it will change haha. If it's any consolation, it's more of a 3.7/8.

Regardless of what my opinion is, I'm still just so fascinated by this album. I'll be happy to keep trying it whether it clicks any more or not.

lyrically this is obviously in a class of its own and that's another reason to keep coming back. I had no idea about the context of that line and that's just so...wow

I'm leaning harder and harder toward a 4.5. This is still a confusing album, but I can't stop listening to it and I like every track. (I still haven't even read the lyrics)

I love how several of the songs are set up like a play script. I could beat myself up for not getting the deluxe edition vinyl. Some pictures would work wonders. They really put their all into this album that’s for damn sure.

Two things: I love the guitar in New Wine New Skins after the whole “I’d like to write a sequel to...”

and, any guesses at wtf tortoises all the way down actually means?

It’s a reference to the line “it’s turtles all the way down.” I know it from the joke at the beginning of Hawking’s A Brief History of Time when a woman responds to the question of what is holding up the giant turtle holding up the universe (according to some Hindu beliefs) and she jokingly replies, “it’s turtles all the way down”

^^^ yup. I learned that from Every Time I Die ;)

Also makes me think of Stephen King's "Maturin, the Great Turtle"

I hated "brother, sister" it bored the shit outta me (don't crucify me), seeing the hype for this pushed me to give it a listen.... This is an incredible album, I wouldn't be amazed if this stayed at a 4.5 average... it is that good.

Winter Solstice reminds me A LOT of Ten Stories, but it's so much better than any song actually on TS

Four Fires is the best song that’s not on Ten Stories

This is really good, idk if it justified that crazy high avg but that still makes me happy to see, does the production sound off to anyone else?

Production sounds excellent to me but I'm no production expert... What is it you hear that sounds off?

I tried with Idles as well but I don't get it. Can't get into the vocals at all. But on this one, you can trust the average.

it just sounds slightly clouded, everything sounds sorta mushed together.
