It takes a few years for me. I still suspect everything I say now is borderline genius. Then in ~5 years I want to kill myself retroactively.

Having never listened to this band until now, for fifteen years I had thought they were death metal, lol. Was glad to hear some black metal when I put the album on, because I very prefer that genre.



Furthermore, I wasn't really expecting to like this all that much because I've seen/heard a lot of people talk shit about this band over the years. And obviously I don't know what the rest of their discog sounds like, but this album right here is truly something special.

Because all of their other albums have like a 3.4 avg which isn't very appealing.

This is one of the most over-hated bands ever though, these averages are misleading. It used to be super cool to hate on them.

If you like this there's a big chance you'll like Midian/Hammer/Cryptoriana/Cruelty for instance.



But hey, you don't HAVE to of course...

Presumably you're not talking about the albums that clearly have higher averages than that? i.e. the first 3 (inc. this) + the last 2. Like Trifo said, worth trying.
